The 1958-59 Warriors were paced by center Joe Henderson (far left), Jim Kelley (center), and Don "Rusty" Snider (far right). Other Warrior players included
Louie Hobbs, Gary Brockman, Mike Adams, Larry McIntosh, Larry Martin, Ikey Allen, Tom Killingsworth, Jerry Rymel, and Fred Mungia.
Under second year coach Chuck Ferrari, the 1958-59 Warriors had an overall winning season at 11-8, Warriors Finish 11-8 Overall In 1959
Rusty Snider Leads The Team In Scoring
but suffered their first losing season in the Desert-Inyo League finishing 4-6.
The starting lineup throughout the season included guards Jim Kelly and Rusty Snider, forwards Tom Killingsworth and Louie Hobbs, and center Joe Henderson.
The Warriors began the season by winning the annual Trona Tournament, defeating Mojave, 44-35, and host Trona, 40-39.
Kelly, Snider, and Killingsworth were all selected to the All-Tournament team.
The Warriors then participated in the annual Kern County Tournament, dropping the first game to McFarland, 55-41,
but coming back to defeat both Shafter and Maricopa to win the consolation championship. Snider led Tehachapi with 30 points in the three games.Tehachapi completed the pre-league schedule by whipping Big Pine, 67-39, behind a 21 point performance by Killingsworth;
stomping Kern Valley as Kelly poured in 21 points; and defeating the Palmdale JV's, 51-36.
The Warriors were 7-1 at this point in the season.
In league play, the Warriors won their first two games the weekend of January 16-17, 1959, nipping both Desert, 56-53,
and Lone Pine, 34-32. Now 9-1, the Warriors were considered serious contenders to make a run for their first DIL title.
But Tehachapi lost the magic, losing seven of their next nine games, defeating Mojave twice for their final two wins of the season.
Trona would go on to win the DIL championship for the second consecutive season.
In the playoffs, Trona would advance to the CIF 1A championship game, losing to Santa Clara-Oxnard, 44-27.
The Warriors had a balanced scoring attack as Snider (181 points) and Kelly (177 points) averaged about 9.5 points per game,
and Killingsworth averaged 8.0 points per game. Hobbs and Henderson were both strong on the boards,
but also had some offensive outbursts at times.
