Warriors Prep For Season With Boron Scrimmage

Posted August 13, 2023, by The Tehachapi News.

Mountain Football sharpened their teeth both in the trenches and skilled positions this past week with a tri-scrimmage
against Boron and Rosamond at Boron.

The varsity Warriors talent was on full display, showing balanced offense with two rushing and three receiving touchdowns against
Rosamond and another touchdown over Boron to end the scrimmage.

Defensively, the varsity had eight tackles for loss and two sacks against Boron, giving up only two pass completions and two first down runs
to the Bobcats. Against Rosamond, the Warriors had five tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.

2023 Warriors Open Season Friday Night
Burroughs Coming To The Mountain

Posted August 13, 2023 by thswarriors.com

The Warriors open the season at Coy Burnett Field against the Burroughs High Burros of Ridgecrest.
Tehachapi dominated Burroughs 52-0 in 2022, increasing their overall lead in the series to 16-12 in games
played dating back to 1947.

Week 2, on a Thursday, the Warriors will be in Bakersfield to play the Highland Scotts. Tehachapi defeated the Scots 42-7 on the mountain
last season. The Warriors cannot overlook the Scots, however, as they play in the rugged South Yosemite League
with large schools BHS, Independence, and Ridgeview. The Warriors lead the overall series 7-5-1.

Week 3 is another travel game to Taft to face the Wildcats, who lost 30-20 to the Warriors in 2022. Taft finished the 2022
season at 8-3 overall; 4-1 in league play. The Wildcats finished second in the South Sequoia League to Kennedy
and advanced to the second round of the valley playoffs. In the modern era dating back to 1990, the Warriors hold a 16-8 edge in games played.

Week 4 is a home game against the Wasco Wildcats. The Warriors held on to defeat the Tigers 27-20 in Wasco last year.
The Tigers finished the 2022 season at 5-5 overall; 3-2 in league play. Tehachapi leads the all-time series 26-14 in games played since 1933.

Week 5 pits the Warriors against the always feisty Arvin Bears. Last year Tehachapi defeated the Bears 28-10 in Arvin.
Arvin finished the 2022 campaign with a 5-7 record; advancing to the second round of the valley playoffs.
The Warriors lead the all-time series 22-4 in games dating back to 1949.

Week 6, the final non-league game before league play begins, is a long road trip to Visalia to play Golden West High School.
The Trailblazers upset the Warriors, 34-13, last season in a game that knocked out star running back AJ Anderson
with an injury. Golden West finished 4-6 for the season; 2-3 in league play.

"Mountain League" play then begins on September 29 against South Bakersfield. The season then continues
with league games against East, North, and West.
