HELOISE QUINCE MEAGHER
Her Eulogy

Heloise Quince Meagher, by Mark Rogers

There is no reason. There is no logic. There is only reality. Reality in the case hurts so deeply. It is a reality so bewildering that we can only cry - a deep, mournful cry. A cry that makes us wish with all our hearts that Heloise was here with us. Her life never let her breath the air, or see her parents. Although it is painful, we should think of the life that Heloise should have had. It would have been a life of happiness, laughter and love. A life with Karin and Kieron and - if the world were fairer - with Søren, her brother, and Imogen, her sister. It would have been a special life, full of the intensity of experience, the mysteries of happiness, and the love of family and friends. This was the way that it should have been.

As all parents know, the creating and sustaining of life is an experience full of happiness, uncertainty and sometimes sadness. Karin and Kieron have ended up with much sadness and little happiness. But they have, rightly tried - with the help of many doctors and nurses - to create the miracle of life. Heloise would have preferred a chance to no chance at all. We must respect Heloise's short life. We must respect Karin and Kieron and their bravery.

There are no words that can temper the sadness of this event. A baby girl was born on Friday 15th March 2002 at 6:45pm, but then died. Our final words and thoughts must be for Heloise Quince.
