FIRST READING; ECCLESIASTES 3: 1-13
For everything on earth there is a season and appropriate time.
Take time to be born and take time to die;
Take time to plant and take time to uproot;
Take time to kill and take time to heal;
Take time to knock down and take time to build up;
Take time to be sad and take time to be happy;
Take time to mourn and take time to dance;
Take time to throw away stones and take time to gather stones;
Take time to embrace and take time to refrain from embracing;
Take time to find and take time to lose;
Take time to save and take time to throw away;
Take time to rend and take time to mend;
Take time to be silent and take time to speak;
Take time to love and take time to hate;
Take time for war and take time for peace;
Does effort guarantee success? I am trying to understand why life is so hard. The past teaches me that everything has it's own being and its own place. The future fills me with desire for knowledge, but I never have the satisfaction of full understanding. I know that happiness consists in the pleasure and enjoyment of doing the best we can. To eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in work is God's gift to us.
This is the word of the Lord.

There are many rooms in my Father's house.
Jesus said to his disciples:
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am you may be too. You know the way to the place where I am going."
Thomas said, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
Jesus said:
"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me."
