 Destination: ANTARCTICA
Time is lost... for whatever you want!
Antarctica is full of surprises and the best way to discover them is to get involved in a variety of activities. Kayaking trips amongst the towering bergs has become a popular form of recreation on Antarctica. Equipment needed such as kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and wetgear are usually provided as part of the package.

However, if you prefer a more land based experience, why not try skiing!
In order to survey the slick, icy landscape for which the Antarctic is renowned, tour groups often provide skiing sessions for tourists. These ski sessions are sometimes structured as a race (see right photo).

For the daring few who wish to go a little further in there expedition, mountain climbing is a perfect way to experience the region from above. If no fog is present, the view is said to be spectacular. In climbing heights of around 5000 metres, it's the cold which will provoke most of the trouble and not the the mountains difficulty.

Getting 'down-to-earth' though, many would prefer the amazing sights and sounds of the Antarctica's wildlife. Bird watching is as popular as ever because people are becoming aware of their significance in the untarnished environment. Not only penguins but seals and whales could be spotted on and around places like Livingston Island. Remember, bring a camera. It is an ESSENTIAL!

For $500 Extra  The kayaking, skiing and mountain climbing would add around $500 to the overall travel budget. Taking into account the expertise of the tour leaders and all the equipment needed.
