There are many different places in this untarnished, diverse continent. Here are some of the most popular...
Deception Island
This flooded, ring-shaped island is home to one of Antarctica's most well known volcanoes. Upon the shore lies an old whaling station and as you explore the island the more interesting it becomes. Not only is it a great place to see penguins, you may also enjoy a dip in the hot springs at Pendulum Cove.
Ross Island
The most frequently visited tourist spot (see Figure 2) is located in the southern-west part of the Ross Sea. This huge island has two volcanoes, Mount Erebus and Mount Terror. Also located on this island is the U.S. Base, McMurdo Station, a popular station with frequent scientific research.

Lemaire Channel
This narrow, glacier-lined channel is considered one of Antarctica's most beautiful passages. Humpback and Killer Whales are often seen in the wake of the ship, which allow for brilliant close-up photography. Penguin rookeries are sometimes sighted and often, elephant seals are seen basking on the rocky beaches along the coast.
