As already said, Adria Gang is a naturist
travel group in foundation. We welcome all your thoughts,
ideas and suggestions as where and when would be the best
place and time to choose for our vacation.

Initial idea was to go for a week
(end of August - beginning of September) somewhere in Istria.
Istria is a large peninsula in Northern Adriatic and
the most popular Croatian tourist region. This is an obvious
choice because Istria is famous with its many naturist resorts
and beaches. Out of three (Monsena, Koversada and Valalta)
which beside camping offer apartments/bungalows type of the
accommodation, our first choice was Monsena naturist resort
3km west of Rovinj (click
for map).
Why Monsena?
WHERE:
Rovinj, a picturesque and beautiful town and port on the
western coast of Istria, 36 km north of Pula; population 12,910.
When you go up to the Old Town that is squeezed on a narrow
peninsula, when you walk through its steep meandering lanes,
cobbled squares and campiellis, you enter the centuries past
by. This ancient settlement (3rd century) was first mentioned
by, Anonymous of Ravenna at the beginning of 8th century.
The Rovinj coastal area is very well articulated with numerous
bays, creeks, and capes. There are places of great natural
and ecological value: forest park Punta Corente-Muntrav, St.
Andrea's archipelago, the Palud marsh, the Limski kanal Fjord,
and Monfiorenzo cave. Along the coast, with a markedly Mediterranean
flora and fauna, a sup-Mediterranean climate with a moderate
humidity level prevails. Rovinj
is in an easy distance from near by countries like Slovenia,
Italy, Austria, Germany, Hungary etc. Also, Rovinj can be
easily reached by plane via Zagreb, Pula or Rijeka in Croatia,
Ljubljana (Slovenia), Trieste (Italy). Rovinj has excellent
bus connections with all of the above cities, and the train
station is located in Pula.
Distance to some of the major European cities: Amsterdam 1400
km, Bruxelles 1350 km, Frankfurt 880 km, Milano 510 km, München
630 km, Paris 1300 km, London 1750 km, Trieste 90 km, Wien
560 km, Zagreb 320 km, Zürich
850 km.
NATURIST VILLAGE:Monsena is a large naturist
resort with many facilities and activities available. As all
other Croatian naturist resorts, Monsena is family oriented,
but comparing to other resorts it attracts younger guests.
Singles are welcome as well.
Monsena has a large complex of bungalows (2-3 persons), which
contain hotel type rooms, upstairs ones with balconies, self
catering apartments (2-6 persons) and a large camp site. Rooms
are pretty simple but appropriately furnished. Half-Board
possible on request (for apartment guests), buffet integral
(breakfast and dinner) for bungalow guests. Single bedroom
require supplement.
A frequent bus-service from the gate connects Monsena with
Rovinj. Beside this there is a taxiboat in high-season (3
times a day). An INF-card is not necessary. To see a plan

BEACH:
There's a long stretch of beach, actually a mixture of
flatfish rocks, pebbles and concrete areas for sunbathing.
The sea is crystal clear and warm enough for swimming from
late May until October. The beach is backed by tree's and
dense shrubbery offering some shelter from the midday sun
and places for a quiet read, afternoon nap etc. Beach is equipped
with showers in regular intervals. Deck chairs and sunshades
can be rented on the beach.
FACILITIES: All facilities
can be used undressed except the supermarket and the restaurant.
On the two large terraces, (one near the pool and one on the
highest point of Monsena) plays every evening a small band
with a limited repertoire. In addition to this, games and
elections are organized. Facilities
include a supermarket, ATM's, bureau de change, safe deposit
boxes, sanitary facilities, showers, washbasins with hot and
cold water, electricity connections, camping refrigerators,
showers for dogs, a little harbor with a slipway and infirmary,
telephone booths, newsstand, laundry, hairdresser and massage
parlor.
Monsena has several restaurants including village restaurant
with buffet breakfast and dinner (choice among 3 menus and
buffet salad), a la carte restaurant with outdoor terrace,
restaurant and bar on the beach, pizzeria, pastry shop, snack-barbecue,
tavern, coffee bar. There
is also a round swimming pool with sea water and waterslide
(aquagan - small charge). Numerous
ground and water sports and leisure facilities, tennis (6
gravel courts), beach volley, mini-golf, windsurfing, table
tennis, bicycle hire, sail- row- and motorboat rental, water-skiing,
pedalo's and surfboards. Also possible are bananaboatriding
and parasailing. All facilities are being charged separately.
Free of charge are the organized activities like beach and
water gymnastics, aerobics, language courses, campfire nights,
party games and Miss- and Mister elections.
ACCOMMODATION AND EQUIPMENT: 326 bungalows for 2-3
persons, buffet integral (breakfast and dinner), bath with
shower/WC and furnished terrace (table, chairs, sunshade)
and 341 apartments on self catering basis for 3, 4, 5 or 6
persons with shower/WC, equipped kitchen and furnished terrace
(table, chairs, sunshade). Large camp ground. A/3 (Apartment for 3 Persons)
Living room with 1 bed, phone, separate bedroom with 2 beds,
completely equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, beautiful
terrace (on the ground floor) or balcony (on the upper floor),
parking near the apartment in price included, all surrounded
by lots of green nature and Mediterranean pinewoods. Size
ca. 30 m2. A/4 (Apartment for 4 Persons)
Living room with 2 beds, phone, separate bedroom with 2 beds,
completely equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, beautiful
terrace (on the ground floor) or balcony (on the upper floor),
parking near the apartment in price included, all surrounded
by lots of green nature and Mediterranean pinewoods. Size
ca. 40 m2. A/5 (Apartment for 5 Persons)
Living room with 1 bed, phone, two separate bedrooms with
2 beds each, completely equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower,
beautiful terrace (on the ground floor) or balcony (on the
upper floor), parking near the apartment in price included,
all surrounded by lots of green nature and Mediterranean pinewoods.
Size ca. 45 m2. B/2 (Bungalow for 1- 3 Persons)
Living room with beds, bathroom (shower/WC) and furnished
terrace (table, chairs, sunshades), parking near the apartment
in price included, all surrounded by lots of green nature
and Mediterranean pinewoods. Buffet integral (breakfast and
dinner).
Extra bed in an apartment is an option.
Bungalows are hotel type of accommodation, half or full board
included in the price..
Apartments are on self catering basis, equipped with a kitchenette.
Surcharge for half board is possible.
When?
1. first week of August: guaranteed great weather, warm sea,
but this is the peak of the tourist season and early reservations
are a must plus prices are also in the peak.
2. first week of September: still good weather, warm sea,
tourist season is slowing down and so are the prices.
3. first week of July: again good weather and warm sea, not
so many tourists, prices as in option two.
