Golf dominate the view, but just at the top end of the course is the site of the original Letchworth village, with its tiny and ancient church, and Hall (now a hotel). Letchworth's Centre for Homeopathy is also visible (a very "Letchworth" facility), along with Highfield secondary school. Letchworth - an otherwise small town in north Hertfordshire, England - is famous as being the world's first "Garden City", being founded in 1903 by Ebenezer Howard. Many social and planning innovations that we take for granted today first appeared in Letchworth. For more information on the town see here. |
