A week with Dale Bass
Here is a pic of Dale with one of his many friends.....Sensational Sherry Martel
The week of Thursday, March 1st-March 8th
Welcome to Battle Zone Wrestling. My name is Dale Bass. I joined
the BZW promotion in early February of 2001. I also do realize that this
could be the very first time that you might have heard of me. I have been in the wrestling business since 1975. That would mean I
have been in for 26 years now.
I have worked for over 20 promotions in the
states of Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, West Virginia, Pennsylvania,
New Jersey, New York, Michigan and in Ontario Canada. I know I missed a
state or two. Started as a wrestler/referee/manager and over time, moved behind the
mic as a house show and TV announcer.
Doing so, also brought me into the
promotion and advertising areas. Former Booker and Commissioner for many
southern promotions.
In the years that I have been in wrestling, I have had the pleasure
of working with people such as "Sensational" Sherri Martel, Sergeant
Slaughter, Fred Curry, Hillbilly Jim, Candi DeVine, Diane VonHoffman (Moondog
Fifi), "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant, "Beautiful" Bobby Harmon, Dutch Mantel,
Bobby Fulton, Ron Starr, Eric Embry, Randy Savage, Leaping Lanny Poffo, Pez
Whatley, Ian & Axel Rotten, War Machines, Barry Horowitz, DR Jerry Graham,
"Superstar" Bill Dundee, "Hustler" Rip Rogers, Doug Vines, Doug Gilbert,
Tracey Smothers, "Fabulous" Moolah, Tojo Yamamoto, Gypsy Joe, Ox Baker,
Rated-X, Professor Toro Tanaka, Jules Strongbow, Tony Parisi, Don Kent,
Wolfie D, Steven Dunn, Reno Riggins, Buddy Landell, Crusher Verdu, Bull Pain,
Chris Michaels, Joe LeDuc, Crusher Bones, Psycho Kid, Country Cuzin' Jeffro,
The Sheik, Lady Satan, Debbie Combs, Master Shogun, Rowdy Red, Hitman Louie,
"Brutal" Bill Lewis and many many more.
My favorite match of all was when I
was able to tag team with Lou Thesz against Duke Keomuka and Great Kato. In my 26 years, I have been awarded the National Wrestling Announcer
of the Year honor twice from the IWPA (Independent Wrestling Promoters of
America) and four other times placed in the top five. Announced for TV
with four different promotions.
Now I have arrived in Battle Zone Wrestling with the intention of
them becoming the New Major League of Wrestling in Kentucky. My black book
of wrestler names and phone numbers will be available for their Booking
Committee.
If you have the opportunity to catch a BZW card in your area, I hope
you come on down and check us out.
