STEELDOGS NEWS AND NOTE: WEEK 4-
Last Game: The Birmingham Steeldogs broke their four game road losing streak Saturday night, beating the Pensacola Barracudas, 70-40. QB Montressa Kirby had yet another solid performance, going 13 of 23, for 223 yards, and six total touchdowns. It was just his third start at quarterback for the Steeldogs. The win marked the first for Birmingham at the Pensacola Civic Center, and evened the overall series at 2-2.
Cedrick Buchannon was named the game’s Ironman after hauling in four passes for 79 yards, and recording four tackles and one interception. The Steeldogs outscored the Barracudas 50-19 in the final 33 minutes of the game. DS/KR Terrance Harris broke the game open early in the second half, returning a missed field goal 53-yards to paydirt to give the Steeldogs a 49-21 lead.
Next Game: The Steeldogs welcome the Columbus Wardogs into the Dog Pound on Saturday, April 27. The Wardogs are coming off their first win in franchise history, 19-14, over the Jacksonville Tomcats. Tickets start at $8, and the first 1,500 kids entering the BJCC Arena will receive a free Steeldogs cap.
