All players wear these while at bat and on the bases to protect their heads. Batting helmets are hard and plastic on the outside and padded on the inside. Players usually don't have to purchase their own helmet. However, taking care of the team helmets should be a priority for everyone, so always use your head when it comes to helmet care. (necessary)
What to Look For:
Make sure your helmet has earflaps on both sides to ensure maximum protection.
Your head should fit comfortably, yet securely inside of the helmet, so make sure it is padded on the inside and sized properly for your noggin.
The helmet must be made of hard plastic on the outside; light plastic helmets that you can purchase at baseball games or baseball memorabilia stores are not acceptable helmets for game use.

It's recommended that an athletic supporter and cup are worn every time a male baseball player takes the field. It has an elastic waistband, straps that go around the back of the thighs, and a pouch that hangs down in front of the genital area. This pouch holds a cup, which protects the genital area from injury-specifically batted or thrown baseballs.

This item is designed to protect the catcher's chest and mid-section from the baseball. Its padded front attaches around the back with straps and is designed to deflect the baseball |
