Patrick Kluivert is an other example of the world famous Ajax youth program. Kluivert started playing at the highest level in 1994 for Ajax. He did not lose a single match untill over one and a half year later.

He was the big promise of the Netherlands. He would fit perfectly in the (Ajax) Holland line: Cruyff, Van Basten and then Kluivert. He won already more prices then most football players can ever dream of and he's still very young. A few years ago he decided to leave Ajax after three years and go play for AC Milan, together with Ajax 'buddies' Davids, Bogarde and Reiziger. Because of injury's he didn't play a lot for AC Milan. Milan bought other strikers and Kluivert felt they didn't need him anymore. Former-Ajax coach Louis van Gaal bought Kluivert to play for FC Barcelona. At Barcelona he had some problems scoring at first, but later on he became a valuable force up front. Kluivert played Sonny Anderson to the bench.

He played for the Dutch national team in EURO'96, World Cup'98 and Euro2000. In 1998 World Cup in France he showed his talents to the world. His goals against Yugoslavia and Argentina put Holland to the fourth place.

In 1995 and '96 he became Dutch Champions with Ajax. He also won the Chmapions League'95 in which he scored the winning goal against AC Milan. In '96 Ajax lost the Champions League final to Juventus FC. In 1995 Kluivert played in World Cup for Clubteams with Ajax, which they won after penalties. He didn't win a price at Milan, but in Barcelona it looks like he'll win some trophy's.

One thing is sure, Kluivert will be a player to watch next year; he'll be a leading player for Barcelona, Although they barely missed all championships in 2000.

Euro2000 became a tournament of mixed fealing. With five goals he became topscorer of the tournament, as he scored three against Yugoslavia in the quarterfinals. In the Semifinal against Italy he missed a penalty, just after F. de Boer missed a penalty as well. Finally after 120 minutes of play, the penalties put Holland back again. After Euro92, 96 and Worldcup'98 again Holland lost on penalties. Kluivert got voted in the 'Team of the tournament'.
