A scorching hot summer day saw
some fast and fearless riding by members of Newton le Willows MXC at
Garstang this Sunday. In particular the middle Parker brother, David, took a
very hard-earned second place overall in S/B 125. He was involved in a start
line tussle in the second race that left him starting last but he fought
through to finish second to Simon Ashe who took the overall S/B 125 honours
for the day.
The ever-popular Tony Houlker
took a good third overall in Adult 125 following Danny Parker and Richard
Blakeman. Both Danny and Richard rode to top ten places in the extremely
fast combined Adult Open/125 races.
Allan Ward led the Open class
riders home after a high-speed first race battle with Jonathan Frudd.
Danny Bamber took a clean sweep
in the Big Wheel 85’s followed by Kevin Wells. Nathan, the third Parker
brother was well on the way to a top three placing when his gear selector
shaft broke in the second race, leaving him with 5th overall.
Collin Collier, Chris Sanders
and Matthew Waterworth were first, second and third in Small Wheel 85 with
one of our young lady riders, Francesca Giacomet riding to 8th
overall.
Lee, the younger Bamber brother
raced to first in the Juniors followed by Jack Whitby and Ross Harrison.
Another of our young ladies, Stacy Fisher rode well to take 7th.
The Autos may be the smallest
of our riders in stature but they rode the full track with gusto and
acquitted themselves well. Chelsea Gowland kept up the ladies scoring with
second overall behind Lewis Petfield with Jack McCartan third.
Finally, Good Luck to Tiffany
Fowler in the Ladies Championship meetings at Finningley and Matchams Park.
