HACKETT 9TH IN OLYMPIC TRIATHLON

Nicole Hackett has finished in 9th position in the 2000 Olympic Triathlon with Australia's other two competitors Michellie Jones and Loretta Harrop placing 2nd and 5th respectively.

In a great performance Nicole was one of the 1st three out of the water with the U.S's Shelia Tormina leading out of the water by a big 32 second margin.

She was also in the first chase pack on the bike in the first of the 40-lap ride around the Sydney CBD. It was not long before Australia's Loretta Harrop had chased Tormina down and the slog fest had began.

40 laps later and onto the run transition 'Nic' had a blinder and was one of the first 3 - 5 onto the 10km/2 lap run.

For one reason or another, Nicole wasn't in the top 3 (Iam in no way trying to take anything away from her performance - how good is 9th!) but completing the race and being in the top 10 which made all three Aussies in the top 10!!! (Jones 2nd, Harrop 5th).

Something to be proud of, which Iam sure she is.

Report from SMH Website - Swiss champion bought Jones to her knees.
