Bellow are some of the starting professions you will be able to take up as soon as you start the game and then i will be working my way through the highbrid professions that come with time and patience.

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Artisan


The Artisan is the crafter profession of Star Wars Galaxies. They have high starting mental attributes and are not designed for combat. The unique feature of an Artisan is that they are builders of the society, they are the only ones who can create certain items and structures. They may be a passive profession but can make a lot of money and are valued by many other players.

A Novice Artisan starts with the abilities to craft basic weapons, clothing, trinkets, toys and food items. To create an item you must have enough resources to make that item. Items are created using the crafting device which is in your inventory. They can also extract small amounts of resources from different locations. Resources can be found by using a survey device and scanning the surrounding land. Once an ample amount of resources has been located, you can sample it using your survey device and it will gather that resource.

Artisans earn experience by crafting items and extracting/sampling resources. After items or resources have been gathered, they can be sold at the Bazaar or to other players. It may be a tedious and boring job but no one said it was going to be easy, or can it be?

An Artisan can advance to such elite professions as an Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Architect, Merchant, Chef, Tailor, or even a Droid Engineer. For the hybrid professions there are the Smuggler and Commando paths.

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Brawler


The Brawler is a strong hardened warrior designed for hand to hand combat. There are very good at armed and unarmed melee combat. They have high health and quickness attributes but they are low in the focus category. This profession is the brute force of classes in Star Wars Galaxies.

A Novice Brawler starts with basic training in armed and unarmed melee combat with a few special attacks for certain weapons. You must get up close to your target creature or NPC and double-click it to begin an attack. Special attacks can also be used within combat to add extra damage or effects.

There are 4 different disciplines that a Brawler can advance its skill in. These are Unarmed Combat, One-Handed Weapons, Two-Handed Weapons and the Polearm. To advance and gain experience in any of these disciplines, one must use the appropriate weapons from that discipline. The best way for a brawler to earn money is by taking on missions and from selling the items they loot off dead enemies.

The Brawler can advance to the elite professions of a Tera Kasi Artist, Fencer, Swordsman, or even a Pikeman. Their hybrid profession options are the Bounty Hunter, Commando, and the Smuggler.

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Entertainer


The Entertainer is fun filled profession that is best used around other players. They can provide healing for ailments that other characters have. They are not strong warriors but are quick and have strong mental attributes.

The Entertainer profession is encouraged to join with others of the same profession as they can form groups or bands. Entertainers can dance and use a number of different moves. They can play instruments and a number of different songs with each instrument. There are also flourishes which are special moves performed using the instruments. An entertainer can also conduct Image Design which allows it to change the appearance of another character.

Dancing and playing instruments are best used in specially designated places such as theaters, hotels, cantinas and camps. Playing just anywhere will not always result in XP and healing for other players. Entertainers rely mostly on the charity of other players to earn money, though they also can take on missions to earn credits.

An Entertainer can advance to the elite professions of Dancer, Musician, or Image Designer.

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Medic


The Medic is the healer of Star Wars Galaxies. It can heal its own and other players wounds and is essential in battle. Medics can also fight but they are more skilled in bandaging wounds. They have good health and focus attributes.

A Novice Medic can heal minor wounds and create some medic supplies. Other players can be healed within hospitals or campsites. Healing items such as stimpacks and wound kits can also be made by gathering the necessary resources and crafting them with a crafting device.

Medics earn experience best by healing others and by using the medical items they make. Like Entertainers, they rely on other players for providing them with income. They may also take on missions to earn credits.

Medics can advance to the elite profession of Doctor. There are also the hybrid profession options of a Combat Medic or Bio-Engineer.

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Scout


The Scout is the explorer profession of Star Wars Galaxies. Being able to travel quickly on foot and gather resources from the land, it makes a good all-around profession.

A Novice Scout can build a small camp or extract resources from a dead creature. They can also craft items which are useful for exploring. Creatures can be trapped using traps that have been crafted. Camps are useful for being safe havens and places where players can heal each other.

Scouting XP is earned when a Scout extracts resources from a creature. They can also gain experience from trapping creatures and creating camps. Experience from camps is based on how long a camp is active and how many people use it. Scouts are good for delivery missions and can gather many resources from the land to sell for credits.

A Scout can choose to become a Ranger or a Creature Handler as their elite profession. They can also become a Squad Leader, Bio-Engineer, or a Bounty Hunter for hybrid professions.

Elite Professions

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Architect


The Architect allows construction of houses and other buildings like factories, resource harvesters etc. Architects can also build furniture and are important in building the Player Association Hall which is a requirement for a Player Association.

Architects require a lot of metal for their building practices, as in lots of metal. A good way to earn credits is by building harvesters and selling them or using them to gather resources and then sell the resources. Architects can also build and sell houses which are always in demand. As an architect increases his skills, he will eventually be able to build the best structures and reach the Master Architect status.

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Armorsmith


Armorsmiths are crafters specializing in armors. They can also create personal shield generators and other useful protection items.

Armorsmiths can be a very profitable profession but it is a tedious and difficult job. The right amount of points must be put into the armor to give the armor good properties. Since there are 9 different pieces of armor, creating a full suit can prove very profitable, but knowledge is what seperates the best from the rest. You don't need to be a Master Armorsmith to be good, you just need to know how. Money can be made best by selling the best armor that you make, but to make XP fast, you should create lots normal armor that can be created fast. Being an Armorsmith is definitely a complex profession.

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Carbineer


The Carbineer features more speed, accuracy and abilities. A Marksman specializing in carbines (hard projectile weapons). The extra abilities that a Carbineer recieves are area effect attacks and strong single shot weapons.

Requirement: Carbine Specialist (Marksman)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Chef


A Chef is a crafter who can manufacture a wide range of foods. These foods can be used to replenish stats and feed pets. Some Chef items can give temporary special effects to the person who eats / drinks the items.

Requirement: Domestic Arts IV: Clothing Repair (Artisan)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Creature Handler


Creature Handlers are what they say they are. A Scout trained in taming and controlling animals. They can train peaceful and even agressive animals and use them in battle or sell / trade them.

It is important for Creature Handlers to try to tame non-aggressive creatures first as the aggressive creatures can kill you very easily. Only baby creatures can be tamed, and be sure not to anger the parents of the baby when taming. You should get the baby creature away from its parents and always mask your scent at all times.

Training your creature will enable it to learn new commands to follow. To name it, train it 4 commands using its name first before the command, just like training a dog. Pets / creatures can also be stored in your datapad and called upon when needed. As you increase your skill, you can store more pets. You can also feed your pets food so that they will grow stronger and bigger.

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Dancer


A Dancer is an Entertainer with increased healing abilities through dancing. Dancers can heal better and learn more advanced dances, even exotic dances.

Requirement: Master Dancing (Entertainer)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Doctor


A Doctor is a skilled surgeon with the ability to make medicines. Doctors can cure all kinds of ailments like poison and disease. They can also ressurect the dead if that's what you call it.

Requirement: Master Medic (Medic)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Droid Engineer

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Fencer


A Fencer is a Brawler trained in all manner of one-handed melee weapons.

An Image Designer is a character capable of changing nearly anything about another character's appearance.

Requirement: Hairstyling Specialist (Entertainer)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Jedi


Become a Jedi is no easy task, not easy at all. It requires a lot of hard work and patience, some might even say it requires the real determination of a Jedi to become one in Star Wars Galaxies. A great place with the latest info on being Jedi is at the MultiplayerStrategies Forum, but we'll give you a run-down of how it's done here:

First to even gain access to your force powers, you have to unlock your Force Sensitive Character Slot. This is a character that can use the force powers skill tree, ordinary characters can not. Unlocking this slot is not simple in itself as it requires you to master certain skills which differ from player to player. The best way to find out what skills you have to master is to collect holocrons which will help you find out which skills you need to master.

Once you have unlocked your Force Sensitive Character Slot, you can then go about building your new jedi. There are 3 skill trees to go through, Jedi Padawan, Jedi Knight and Jedi Master. Also depending on which way you go, you can become a Jedi or a Dark Sith. Be wary, because as a Jedi, you are automatically on the Rebel side and the Empire may place a bounty on your head. Using your force powers in front of others will allow them to kill you without any penalty, so only use them with those you trust. Probably the most difficult aspect of becoming a Jedi is that your character has perma-death, meaning when you die, you die and your character gets deleted. The developers have allowed for 3 safety deaths to compensate for uncontrollable aspects such as disconnections and computers crashes, but 3 is all you get. Once you get to the Jedi Master rank though, you won't have perma-death anymore and will live on in glowing blue as in the movies.

Only recently have a few people unlocked their Force Sensitive Character Slot and started on the road to becoming a Jedi. The path is very difficult, so if you ever do achieve the Jedi Master rank, you know you are one of a kind.

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Musician


A Musician gains healing through music and access to more songs and instruments.

Requirement: Master Musicianship (Entertainer)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Pikerman


A Pikerman is a Brawler trained to use all types of Polearms.

Requirement: Master Polearm Specialization (Brawler)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Pistoleer


A Pistoleer is a Marksman skilled at using blaster pistols and other small firearms.

Requirement: Pistol Specialist (Marksman)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Ranger


A Ranger is an adventurer well-suited to travel, tracking, and defending others in combat.

Requirement: Master Scout (Scout)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Rifleman


A Rifleman is a Marksman who is skilled using blaster rifles and other large firearms.

Requirement: Rifle Specialist (Marksman)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Swordsman


A Swordsman is a Brawler trained to handle various two- handed melee weapons.

Requirement: Master Two-Handed Sword Specialization (Brawler)

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Bio-Engineer


A Bio-Engineer excels at producing and harvesting organic resources.

Requirements: Organic Chemistry IV (Medic) & Hunting IV: Unconventional Methodology (Scout)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Bounty Hunter


A Bounty Hunter is a mercenary who earns his living by hunting down "criminals".

Requirements: Master Marksman (Marksman) & Master Scout (Scout)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Combat Medic


A Combat Medic is a healer who also has some field training to increase his odds of survival in battle.

Requirements: Ranged Support Specialist (Marksman) & Master Medic (Medic)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Commando


A Commando is a hardened soldier trained to use and craft heavy weapons.

Requirements: Master Marksman (Marksman), Unarmed Specialist (Brawler) & Engineering Specialist (Artisan)

 

SWG Star Wars Galaxies Smuggler


A Smuggler is an adventurer able to sell contraband and collect spice.

Requirements: Pistol Specialists (Marksman), Business IV: Business Diversity (Artisan), Unarmed Specialist (Brawler) & Engineering Specialist (Artisan)
