It was around 10:30pm and Matt was lying across the couch in his hotel room, thinking of Leah.... it was soo wonderful to see her. Matt was so happy to be back in his hotel room. He was so tired. He was so hyped to be wrestling earlier because he knew Leah was around somewhere in the arena and she was watching him, her amazing and incredible eye’s on him, watching his every move. Matt sighed as he closed his eye’s and allowed his thoughts of Leah to wander. He was really excited to be seeing her in a while. *** Leah was pacing around the side of the pool in the back of the hotel around 12:30am waiting for Matt. She sighed, it was a bit windy on this night and it looked like rain. Leah wore a pair of faded jeans and a dark blue sweater, and her long blond hair was flying around her in the wind. It was very unlike Florida weather. Leah sighed, it was unlike Matt she remembered to be late and she knew he was excited to be hanging out with her tonight so she couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t here yet. She knew he had left the arena long before she had so it wasn’t like he was on his way or stuck in traffic or anything like that. Leah sighed as she stopped and leaned against the fence surrounding the pool area and sighed staring out at the ocean and up at the stars. * Matt opened his eye’s and looked up at the ceiling. He sat up slowly looking around at the darkness in the room. He rubbed his head and reached for the remote control. He turned on the fireplace and watched as a brilliant warm yellow glow grew from the fireplace before him. What time was it? He hadn’t intended to fall asleep. Matt yawned stretching as he got up and and turned to face the clock on his night stand beside his unmade bed. Matt’s eye’s grew wide, it was 12:37am, he was late, he didn’t want Leah to think he stood her up. Matt swore dashing for the phone. He picked up the phone and realized he didn’t know her cell phone number. Matt groaned as he ran into the bathroom and got changed and cleaned quickly. Matt grabbed his sweatshirt and slid some money into his pocket and his room key and looked around and went to the door. Matt locked the door and disappeared quickly to the elevator, he was very late. Leah sighed glancing down at her watch. Matt wasn’t coming...... Leah sighed as she continued to look out at the stars. She watched the way the moon glistened across the waves and rippled along the surf. Leah frowned not wanting to think Matt would stand her up, that he wasn’t coming. It was 12:48am, if Matt didn’t come by 12:50 she would go in and throw herself across her bed and probably cry. She wanted to see him.... to get reacquainted with him, to know him again, and spend time with her best friend. Leah sighed as she stared out again at the stars and frowned thinking of Matt. Matt was out of breath by the time he got to the lobby and was walking down the hallway down towards the pool in the back of the hotel. Matt stopped at the doorway and took a deep breath. Leah stood with her back to him, her long hair flying around her. She was leaning against the fence in closing the pool from the beach. Matt sighed, she was still there. Matt’s heart beat, she hadn’t left him. Matt opened the doorway quietly and snuck around the side of the pool and came up behind Leah. Leah still had no idea he was there, Matt wanted to surprise her. Matt took a breath and reached out sliding his arms around her. Leah jumped and screamed as she turned around quickly and stared at Matt. Leah held her hand over her heart and stared at him. “Matt!” Leah sighed her heart racing from the shock and then form the incredible sight of him. “Sorry!” Matt said staring at her, “I didn’t mean to scare you!” Matt said as Leah took a few deep breaths. Leah pushed her hair away from her face and stared up at him. Her eye’s met his, his long brown hair was gently swirling around him in the gentle wind. His dark eye’s piercing into hers. Leah took another deep breath her heart racing because Matt’s hands were still gently resting on her hips. “Are you okay?” Matt asked softly smiling gently at Leah. Leah shook her head and sighed, “I didn’t think you were coming.” Leah said softly staring at Matt. Matt frowned, “I’m sorry..... I got back to the hotel earlier and I sat down on the couch and I must have fallen asleep, before I knew it I woke up and it was after 12: 30am. I’m so sorry Lee, I can’t believe I did this to you... I made you wait around for me for almost an hour.... I’m really sorry Lee. I feel awful.” Matt said softly staring at Leah. Leah stared at Matt. She felt better knowing he hadn’t stood her up after all. “Its okay Matt. I forgive you.” Leah said softly staring into Matt’s eye’s. Matt smiled at her and sighed. She was so beautiful! “I really am sorry.” Matt said softly staring at Leah. Leah smiled reaching out and touching Matt’s arm gently, “It’s okay.” Leah said softly smiling at him. Leah sighed as Matt forced himself to let go of his hold on her. Matt leaned against the fence next to her and looked out at the ocean and up to the stars. “Its an awesome view isn’t it?” Leah said softly leaning against Matt’s side. Matt smiled. Matt stared at Leah a long moment and sighed it was an awesome view, everything about Leah was awesome. Everything from the smile on her gorgeous face to the dazzling sparkle in her eye’s was amazing. “Yeah its great.” Matt said softly clearing his throat as he tore his eye’s from Leah and looked out towards the stars. “You know you did really good in your match tonight, I was happy that you won.” Leah said softly was Matt watched her shiver. “Thanks.” Matt said softly smiling at her. “Are you cold? Do you want my sweatshirt?” Matt asked staring at her, he was wearing long sleeves so he didn’t need the sweatshirt. Leah smiled, shivering a bit more, “Sure...! Thanks Matt.” Leah smiled as Matt handed her the sweatshirt. Matt watched Leah as she slipped his favorite sweatshirt over her head and he watched the way she slid it down her chest and it fell far past her waist. His sweatshirt looked like a giant night gown on tiny Leah. It was way to big on her and Matt chuckled staring at Leah, regardless though Leah was wearing his sweatshirt and she looked incredible in it. It was Matt’s favorite sweatshirt, but now it was more special to him because Leah was wearing it. “Better?” Matt asked smiling at her as she wrapped the extra material that hung around her tight to her. Leah giggled and shook her head, “Yes. Thank you.” Leah smiled. Matt grinned and continued to stare at her. “So what did you have to do after the show?” Matt asked watching Leah as she leaned against the fence besides him and ran her fingers through her long blond hair trying to smooth it down and stop it from flying in the wind. Leah shrugged, “Rick... my manager wanted me to stop over to a local radio station and promote my new album before it hits stores next month.” Leah said rolling her eye’s and she glanced back over at Matt. Matt grinned, “I expect an autographed copy of that by the way!” Matt smiled watching Leah. Leah laughed and then smiled, “Really?” Leah asked with a teasing smile. Matt grinned, “Yes mame.... after all don’t you think your best friend is worthy enough of being the first person in the world to receive an autographed copy of your CD and future success?” Matt asked as he slipped his hand into Leah’s. Leah smiled, pondering Matt’s request. Matt was definitely worthy enough! “I dunno , I guess you’ll have to prove your worth!” Leah said softly smiling as she stared at Matt. Matt’s eye’s met Leah’s and he sighed, “What do I have to do to prove it?” Matt asked realizing he was whispering softly, realizing how close he suddenly was to Leah’s face, realizing that there wasn’t much separating him from her now. Leah’s heart raced, Matt’s eye’s seemed to melt into her own, and Leah felt trapped in the dark brown depths of Matt’s eye’s. She could feel the warmth of Matt’s breath on her face. Leah felt herself begin to shake, but not from the cold, but from the look in Matt’s eye’s, from the feel of his warm breath on her face. From the heat she could feel burning between them, the fact that there bodies were standing next to each others, so close, and warm intense heat trapped them both in a moment of standstill and silence. Leah’s heart pounded, would Matt’s lips feel as incredible as she dreamed they would? Leah braced herself, she felt as if she was awaiting this moment her entire life. The wind suddenly seemed to stop, all Leah could hear was the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, and the pounding of her heart in her ears. She continued to stare into Matt’s eye’s and Matt slowly reached up to her face with his other hand, brushing a strained of her hair away from her eye’s. There was this weird & bizarre connection between them in this moment. There were so many things they should be saying to each other, they shouldn’t be doing this, they haven’t seen each other in so long... but how can you hide or avoid an attraction this strong? How can you avoid the inevitable? How can you ignore the heat of the sparks flying between them? The attraction that blazed between them now was strong, and after all they were a lot older this time around, they were both more mature now! But they should be catching up, talking and laughing and being friends again, perhaps they shouldn’t be taking there relationship there........ but it felt too right in this moment. The bizarre connection seemed to block out the reality in the situation. They both knew there were things that should be said if they were to do this, but Matt wanted Leah... he was crazy about her, and Leah wanted Matt just as much. Sometimes the things that make the least sense... actually make the most. Leah held her breath, her heart pounding, Matt’s smiled thrilled her, the fell of his warm breath on her face, the soft touch of his fingers on her cheek...... everything was right in that moment, everything was perfect! Everything and nothing needed to be said. Leah took a breath and stared back into Matt eye’s...... wanting more then anything to feel his lips kissing hers. Leah could feel her eye’s close, Matt’s lips would be the next thing she felt and her heart raced excitedly, her mouth eager to welcome his kiss. Matt was about to finally kiss her, after years of dreaming of this moment, he was about to make a great dream come true. Matt was about to kiss Leah......... when suddenly Leah opened her eye’s, her eye’s focusing on something other then him for the first time in minutes. The ringing sound seemed to scream both of them back to reality. Leah stared horrified and pissed at a chair where she had tossed her purse earlier. Leah stared at it wanting to cry. She listened to the sound of her cell phone from inside her purse ringing.... Her heart sank, and she looked back to Matt’s eye’s. Matt noticed a horrified look replacing the usual sparkle in her eye’s. Matt touched her cheek softly and let go of her hand. Leah stood dazed a moment, feeling a bit weak and then she went to her purse and pulled out her phone. Leah sat down staring at Rick’s phone number flashing across the screen. She sighed groaning softly as she pressed a button and put her cell to her ear, “Hey Rick.” Leah said softly looking up to Matt who was leaning against the fence staring at her. Matt sighed and continued to watch her. “Hey Leah, I just wanted to check with you and find out how it went when you went to the radio station to promote tonight?” Rick asked. Leah rolled her eye’s, sighing, “It was okay. It was just the usual promotional visit, nothing out of the ordinary happened. It went well Rick. Don’t worry.” Leah said softly anxious to get off of the phone and devote her attention back to Matt. “Did I wake you?” Rick asked as Leah rubbed her head. “No Rick, I wasn’t asleep, you didn’t wake me, I’m just hanging out.” Leah said softly as she watched Matt walk over and sat down next to her leaning back and closing his eye’s. “You know what time you need to be at the arena tomorrow right?” Rick asked as Leah groaned. “Rick don’t worry so much! I know I’m supposed to be there at 11am. I’ll meet you in my dressing room, the promotional thing went fine earlier, can we talk later?” Leah asked as she glanced down over at Matt. “Okay. Don’t be late Leah!” Rick said as Leah sighed. “I won’t be late Rick, goodnight!.” Leah said impatiently as she hung up the phone and slid it into her purse and got to her feet groaning. Matt opened his eye’s and sat up staring at her. Leah rubbed her forehead and leaned against the fence. The moment was ruined. Matt stared at her. Leah’s back was facing him, and her hair was flying about her again. “Argh I get so aggravated when he questions me all the time! It’s like he thinks I’m a little girl or something!” Leah said softly unsure of whether she was talking to Matt or just talking. Matt frowned as he got to his feet and came over standing next to her. Leah glanced over at him and frowned. “I don’t think he thinks that. He’s just worried about your career and he wants you to be successful, and it just comes off as treating you like your a little kid.” Matt said softly trying to give her some advice. Matt sighed as Leah stared at him. “Because your definitely not a little kid anymore.... your an amazing ...... beautiful....woman.” Matt said softly as Leah stared at him. Leah smiled and sighed, Matt was so good at making any situation okay in the end. Her spirits seemed to lift a bit when she thought perhaps this moment was ruined, but there was a strong chance they’d share another hopefully..... at least she prayed there would be and was hopeful.
