~Chapter 9~

As Matt left his hotel room he was very excited to be seeing Leah. Matt was anxious to see her, and to be able to spend time with his best friend. It was time to tell Leah the truth. It was time to tell her exactly how he felt about her, how strong his feeling for her were, it was time to finally be honest and admit to her how crazy he was about her.

As Matt approached her hotel room he took a deep breath and smoothed his hair, and he glanced down to make sure he look presentable enough. Matt realized suddenly that his stomach hurt and that he was nervous about seeing Leah, about admitting to her the truth of his feelings, but she had to know how he really felt.

Matt knocked on the door and sighed trying to calm his nervous stomach as he waited for Leah to come to the door. Matt watched as the door opened and he was greeted by Leah’s beautiful smile.

“Hey Matt. Come on in.” Leah said softly staring at Matt.

Matt grinned, “Hey.” Matt said smiling at her as Leah opened the door for him to come inside.

Leah closed the door behind Matt as she turned and smiled at him as he took off his brown leather jacket and hung it up on the hook in the hallway. Matt smiled at her as he followed Leah into the living room area of the big room and watched as she climbed back onto the couch and snuggled beneath some blankets in front of the fireplace where she had obviously been settled when he knocked.

Matt sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair and walked to the back of the couch leaning against it as he looked down at Leah. “So what’s up?” Matt asked quietly as Leah looked up at him and smiled.

Leah sighed as she sat up pulling her legs beneath her as she stared up at Matt, “Nothing… Come sit with me.” Leah whispered softly staring into Matt’s dark eye’s.

Matt grinned as he climbed over the couch, and snuggled next to Leah who pulled the blankets tight around them as Matt held her in his arms, pulling her close and listened as the fire crackled in the silence.

Leah sighed, Matt’s arms were warm and she was happy to be snuggled close to him, he was warm and he smelled so good. Leah was happy right here in Matt’s arms, they held her so protectively and he held her close and tight but at the same time so gently.

After a long silence Leah picked her head up from Matt’s shoulder and met his eye’s. Matt smiled at her as she spoke softly, “So how’s your arm?” Leah asked staring at Matt.

Matt stared at Leah amused, “What do you mean?” Matt asked chuckling.

Leah sighed, “I watched your match…. You hurt yourself didn’t you? The chair looked like it missed and hit you in the elbow, it looked like it hurt. Did it hurt you?” Leah asked staring at Matt.

Matt laughed amused at Leah’s obvious observation. “The chair missed but I’m okay. You know your getting pretty good at the wrestling terminology and knowing the difference between the moves and stuff, you should try it out, you’d be good at it!” Matt said smiling at Leah as she burst into hysteric laughter.

Once Leah recovered she stared at Matt giggling a bit, “Ohh Matt could you imagine me trying to wrestle?! It would be so bad… it would be just plain funny. Everyone would definitely get a good laugh out of that!” Leah said laughing some more.

“No Lee I think you’d be good it!” Matt said staring at her honestly.

Leah stared at Matt knowing he was serious about it. “Your serious? Thanks Matt, but I don’t know the first thing about wrestling.” Leah said meeting Matt’s eye’s.

“You’d catch on really quickly I bet.” Matt said softly as Leah pushed a strand of her long blond hair behind her ear and stared at him biting her bottom lip gently.

“Matt I’m leaving in a week and a half, what could I possibly learn?” Leah asked staring seriously back a Matt.

Matt sighed staring directly at Leah for a long time. Leah rubbed her head feeling a headache beginning. After an intense long stare and the silence which seemed to engulf everything Leah could no longer bare the look in Matt’s eye’s. Leah stared into the fire and could still feel Matt’s eye’s on her. She shivered just knowing those eye’s were on her.

Matt stared at Leah as the shadows from the fire danced across her gorgeous face- red, orange, and yellow shadows danced about her… like the sun… The light blazed through her blond hair making it sparkle and shine. The light caught her eye’s as she stared into the flames and Matt saw the usual diamond blue color blaze amazingly and sparkle reflecting the light. Matt sighed, this woman never seemed more beautiful to him.

After a long silence Matt took a deep breath. Leah looked away from the fire and back into Matt‘s eye‘s as she heard his soft whisper, “Then don’t leave….” Matt whispered as he stared into Leah’s diamond eye’s.

Leah stared at Matt as her heart raced, had she heard him right? Leah felt herself shiver. Did he really just say that to her? Leah stared at Matt in utter shock as Matt whispered again. “Stay…. Don’t leave me Lee……….” Matt whispered as Leah swallowed and took a breath instantly pulling away from Matt’s hold unsure exactly what to do or say or how to react to what Matt had just said to her. Quickly Leah got up leaving Matt’s arms as she walked around to the fireplace leaning against the mantel staring down into the flames.

Leah stared into the flames, as a tear ran down her cheek. She was both ecstatic and confused by what Matt had just said to her. Leah took a breath and whispered, “Matt…how can you say that? How can you ask me that?“ Leah whispered wiping a tear from her cheek. She could still feel Matt’s eye’s and she shivered not knowing what to say or do but simply stare into the flames.

Leah knew she wanted to be with Matt more then anything in the world. Leah knew she loved Matt, she knew she was in love with him, she knew she always had and always would- even when she wasn’t brave enough to tell him the truth or to admit it out loud. Leah knew she was in love with Matt. She also knew that it could never work out between them. There were so many reasons why it could never be. Their careers would always be in the way, they’d never have time to devote to each other… their lives would never be open enough for such a distant relationship to work. She’d be busy on the road touring, and he’d be busy touring with the wrestling. Their careers would never allow it. It would be impossible! And yet there were so many reasons to hope that it could be possible to be together. As much as a relationship would never work out between them wasn’t there still hope? What was there to lose in finding out? But it would just never work and Leah knew it….

Matt sighed, taking a deep breath, “Lee I’m so sorry…. your right, I have no right to ask you to stay and be with me… I have no right to ask you to give up everything you’ve dreamed of, everything you have… I have no right to ask you to stay period. Lee you’re an amazing star… I would never ask you to give that up… it’s something you’ve always wanted… I’m so proud of you… I’m so happy for you Lee! Never give up what you want for anyone, I had no right to ask you to stay…..forgive me Lee… I’m so sorry..” Matt whispered as he got up and made his way to the hallway wanting to be far away from this situation he’d gotten them into.

Matt was about to reach for his jacket when he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned as Leah met his eye’s and whispered his name. “Matt.” He stared at her, as tears ran down her cheeks and still she looked beautiful!

Matt couldn’t bare the sight of the tears running down her gorgeous face. He grinned as he reached to touch her cheek and began to gently wipe her tears away with his finger tips. Leah closed her eye’s and felt herself shiver at Matt‘s touch. His touch was so tender, so soft and gentle, Matt was so sweet… he meant more to her then she knew.

Leah took a deep breath and opened her eye’s meeting Matt’s own. Leah bit her bottom lip gently, nervously as he stared at her. Leah sighed as Matt slipped his arms around her and held her tightly pulling her close into his arms. Leah hugged Matt tightly, and closed her eye’s. It felt wonderful to be back in these arms. Matt was warm and Leah took a deep breath savoring the feel of his arms around her, the smell of him, the feel of his breath on her neck.

“Lee I would never ask you to give up what you love…. I’m sorry.” Matt whispered hugging her tightly.

Leah sighed hugging Matt. Leah took a breath and opened her eye’s as she picked her head up and met Matt’s eye’s. “Say it again.” Leah whispered.

Matt chuckled, “I’m sorry….” Matt started to say when Leah shook her head interrupting him.

“No… not that…” Leah said softly laughing.

“Say what again?” Matt asked wiping another small tear from her cheek.

Leah sighed staring at Matt. “Say that you want me to stay…. That you want me to be with you…….” Leah whispered as Matt grinned.

Matt smiled staring at her amused, “Ohh Lee…” Matt whispered pulling her closer. “I want you to stay… I want you to be with me!” Matt whispered as Leah closed her eye’s and silent tears feel from her eye’s.

Leah smiled as she looked at him…. “Matt… I wanna be with you too.” Leah whispered as she hugged him tight and cried softly burying her face into Matt’s shoulder. Matt hugged her not wanting to let go. Matt was unsure what would happen next but he was ready for anything at this point!

The hope was all there… perhaps love was enough… love is always strong enough to bind people together- to hold them in this life. Matt wasn’t sure what would happen from this moment but he knew what he wanted. He wanted Leah and to finally kiss her.
