The Philips 70 watt metal halide lamp shown here is the older low-wattage MH type with the internal quartz arc tube with pinched ends. Philips has since discontinued this lamp in favor of improved versions with ceramic arc tubes, which allow much better color stability than the quartz arc tubes, and also better color rendition, longer life, and improved efficency, while using the same ballasts.
