Here is a 250 watt phosphor coated self ballasted mercury lamp with a medium base. Having a medium base mounted on a very wide necked ED-28 lamp looks funny but the workmanship on this lamp appears incredible, considering the complexity of heating the glass and forming it so a medium base would fit. Note the yellowish glass, common on some European made lamps, which is caused by barium in the glass that replaces lead. Despite being made for 120 volt US operation, the non-US E-27/30 screw base will stick out of a US socket, so care must be taken when handling this lamp in a socket to avoid electrical shock. I lit up this lamp and it makes a nice and warm glow.
