Week Four Review Questions and Answers

1 ) Describe two different ways to add a new layer.
Add a layer by clicking on the Create Layer Icon, which is located on the upper left corner of the Layer Palette control panel -- or you can select Layers | New Raster Layer.

2) What does flattening an image refer to?
You lose the ability to manipulate the images effectively and are not able to keep the layer information intact.

3) You have a layer and you would like to copy it exactly (duplicate). How would you go about doing this?
Duplicate a layer by clicking Duplicate Layer Icon, which is located on the upper right of Layer Palette control panel -- or you can select Layers | Duplicate from the menu.

4) a. PSP allows you to Lock Transparency on a layer. What does locking transparency accomplish?
b. What does it do?
a. Locking transparency on, only pixels that are already transparent will accept paint. Locking transparency off, any area of the layer will accept paint.

b. Locking Transparency will restrict painting to the nontransparent areas of a layer.

5) How would you bring a layer to the top?
I would choose Layers from the menu bar, select the layer that I want to bring on top and make it active. Then choose Layers | Arrange | Bring to Top. You can also drag the layer in the layer palette to the position you would like.
