In a
period of little work, I started to make a list of things I invented, or
businesses I had or worked on. I want to work in a Think Tank I believe I
have a good brain for working with new technology, new applications and
invent new solutions to help improve working situations or gadgets for
home use. After some solicitations, I came in contact with syntens.
I had a meeting with Ir. Jan Smit and Peter van der Sar. They were so impressed with my inventions and ideas, that they sent me to
the NOVU, 'Nederlandse
Orde Van Uitvinders'. I am now a member.

They gave me a list
of possible partners, to get my inventions into production, and the
name and phone number of the head work studio from 'The Haagse Hoge
School', to help me out getting some synthetic material for making
the proto types. His name is Jos Hogervorst, and he helped me perfectly. He
made the proto type for me, for free! Thank you, Jos!

I have 6 inventions, I am working on right now. I have been visiting
different possible partners, and am still negotiating. It is not
easy to get an innovation on the market, and will take some time.
But it is a boomer to see those companies go in excitement about my
stuff, even when after their survey they tell me it doesn't fit in
their production strategy... That's normal. I just have to find the
right partner...

September 3 2004, I
had an appointment with FESTOOL,
Waddinxveen. The engineer, Jan Smit, from Syntens, had sent me to
the formal director of Festool. It was a good entree. I got an
appointment, not only for one of my inventions, but also because I
have a lot of suggestions to improve their tools. I got to talk with
Frans van Dijk.

After I let him
read the letter from Syntens, he signed a secrecy disclosure, and I
showed him my prototype. He said 'now I understand why Syntens
writes so eloquent and enthusiastic about you... |

I had the following
improvements in thought for Festool;
Their plunge-cut
saw, the ATF65EBQ has an issue. It is so strong, it wants to pull
itself too fast into the wood. I suggested to make a kind of brake,
so it can only sink in the wood with a maximum speed.
|
Their vacuum
cleaner, the CT 11 E Dust Extractor. Its a mobile unit, and I often
use it as a table. I suggested the following;
Make a container,
which can be clicked on like the systainers they sell, in the shape
of the top of the smaller vacuum cleaner, the CT MINI.
This way, the hose
van be fitted in perfectly. Also, create some holes for chisels,
screw drivers, and the cordless drill. And besides this, a v-shaped
space where you can put a piece of wood steady when cutting it
short. And finally, get some brakes on the front wheels, activated
when standing on it, so you can use the machine as a step.
|
For their Systainer
SYS-HWZ, I told him that the wooden insert gets stuck, when trying
to get it out of the systainer, because the lit makes the backside
of the systainer bent inwards.
Besides this, I
think it would be interesting to make one wooden insert, with a grid
and only some points drilled out, so the craftsman using it, can
decide himself what spaces to make for his tools....
|
Being there I
noticed another thing on their Trimming saw PRECISIO CS 70 EB-set.
The hose connection for the Dust Extractor came in the way of the
wood, if not carefully placed. I suggested to make a clamp at the
end of the workpiece holder, so it would slide away with moving the
workpiece holder in place.
|
Frans van Dijk told
me to pass the ideas on, but didn't promise me anything, since ideas
from anywhere but headquarters Germany, where less likely to be
accepted, and had to fit in the concept they have. Nonetheless, it
was a great meeting. I hope to hear from him, somewhere in the
future. |
The companies I
visited;

Just this afternoon
September 27 2004, I have been on the phone with 'Flex, the
Innovation Lab', and talked to Marcel Verkaik. I saw a new gadget,
they invented, and thought to have a improvement on it. They make
little rubber ball shaped cable reels. Flip the rubber up, and wind
your cable around the center ax. I have been thinking about the
situation with those cables for adapters. My home is full with it,
as are my drawers. Just to have two small plastic sphere's, one with
an ax going in a fitting in the other. A slit in the ax, where you
can put the cable in, and click them together. In the other half
sphere are two little openings on the side of the plastic, opposing
eachother, where the cable can pass through. The only thing you have
to do now, is turn the 2 half sphere's in opposite direction, and
the cable will roll inside.. Gone are those loose cable's for ever! |
I am still
available for Think Tanks, and if you read this, and think I would
be an asset to your company, please contact me.
