So posterity may witness the making of the universe's greatest person

I'm at home today. I guess it's technically a "mental health day". I was supposed to be going to the University of Chicago for a tour and stuff, but my dad bailed out at the last minute. This meand that I am left to stay at home and think bitter thoughts, while doing my $@#% art hist project.
    friday five

1. How many houses/apartments have you lived in throughout your life?
Let's see... seven that I can remember. No, eight counting my grandmother's.

2. Which was your favorite and why?
I loved my grandmother's house because it had my grandmother in it, and it had this huge vegetable and flower garden. I think my favorite, as far as just the structure goes, was our house in Pittsburgh. We had a pool in the back yard, and a covered deck that was perfectly suited for watching a thunderstorm, or spotting deer and turkey in the woods.

3. Do you find moving house more exciting or stressful? Why?
It depends. If I'm moving to another country, or someplace very interesting it's lot's of fun. Of course, that 's ususally because I don't carry a whole elot by way of furniture and such. Moving to Chicago, however was a huge hassle.

4. What's more important, location or price?
Considering I don't have to worry about the price (that's what parents are for), I'd say location.

5. What features does your dream house have (pool, spa bath, big yard, etc.)?
My dream house has a graden that blooms all four seasons and at night. It's big, with a winding path, and nots of places to read. there is also a vegetable garden, that grows almost everything. The kitchen, of course, would be huge, with a wood-burning oven (for breads), and other assorted kitchen gadgets. The house itself is small, but the garden makes up for that. I have an outdoor kiln and an areal for welding, so I can periodically replace the sculptures in my garden. I also have a covered deck and a window in the attic that leads straigt to the roof, so I can watch Fourth of July fireworks without budging. It's either this or a city appartment.

    friday five

1. What was the first band you saw in concert?
I don't know the first band I saw in concert. It was some generic bad rock group. However, that was the concert where I saw hte Buzz Poets, and that was great....*reminisces*

2. Who is your favorite artist/band now?
L: Dave! J: Joel! (it's both... :D)

3. What's your favorite song?
Hmm... Jo says it's Drrty, but I have to disagree. although it has a beat that's not unpleasent, I can't say I love it. It a mediocre piece of music. My favorite song is "It's Getting Hot In Here" ;)

4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be?
I have no answer, but Jo aspired to play the armpit. Apparently, her next door neighbor could, and she would get quite frustrated, because she could not do it.

5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why?
Ooh! I'd definitely pick Ozzie, so I can really find out how brain dead he is. I swear... but that's another rant.

Wow, what a completely random day... Pat and I are doing Jo's chem, I went to Borders to do research, and I paid a surprise visit to Sean, bringing cheer and tea to his flu-ridden self. :D I'm also going to volunteer at the Chicago architectural Foundation and give tours to people... *beams*

It looks like the Friday Five site is being difficult... I can't get there.
Anyway, I finally finished my Art History project! I'm all caught up! YAY! *is extremely happy*

Ok, now that I've got that out of my system, I would like to post up This-or-That Tuesday, even though it's shamelessly stealing from Amanda amd it is not Tuesday. Today we feature the opinions of Pat M., my physics buddy.

1. Yummier: Chocolate ice cream or strawberry cheesecake?
Me: Strawberry cheesecake with chocolate ice cream on top!
Pat: Cheesecake

2. Better to watch on TV: Movies or sports?
Me: I have an aversion to most sports, so I'd ahve to say movies, preferably old ones.
Pat: Movies. Sports are the bane of my existence.

3. A better web browser: MSIE or Netscape (or tell us your own favorite!)
Me: I've only had experience with IE, so I can't answer the question very accurately.
Pat: MSN, its slow, but the funtions make it worthwhile. Explorer is the better of the two, though.

4. A better way to travel: Automobile or bus/train?
Me: Train all the way! Trains are especially great for long trips and commutes. They're much more fun than airplanes, where they strap you to a seat for hours on end, with a tiny window to look out of (if you're lucky), and artery-hardening snacks that still manage to taste like cardboard, despite the great amount of salt and lard added.
Pat: Car. Driving is fun!

5. Your preferred camera: Digital or film?
Me: Film. It's a lot easier to transfer into scrapbooks.
Pat: Though I don't fancy myself much of a photographer, digital is always better, no matter what the question.

6. A Cooler Vehicle: Motorcycle or sports car?
Me: Roadsters from the 2o's and 30's (and before too).
Pat: Sports car. Motorcycles are for idiots.

7. More fun: Video games or board games?
Me: Video games only if it's Dance Dance Revolution. Otherwise, it's all about boardgames.
Pat: Video. Do you even have to ask?

8. Sexier: A perfect body or an intelligent mind?
Me: Definitely the mind. What use is a perfect body if there's nothing between the ears? Nothing kills any sort of positive emotion faster than general stupidity.
Pat: I would tend to gravitate toward intellect, in case you couldnt tell by my not-so-girlish figure.
Me: I would hope it's not a girlish figure!

9. A stinkier smell: Skunk or gasoline (petrol)?
Gas, most definitely. I don't really mind skunk. It brings back memories of my childhood, where as gas brings back memories of horrible bus rides.
Pat: Both are pretty good, I think. Skunk reminds me of Wendy's chicken nuggets and gas just smells good. Next time you are at wendy's, order the ckicken nuggets and smell them, its really true, and when you think of skunk that way, its more appetising than bad. As for gas, well, i guess i have a penchant for inhalents.

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: What is more important to you: making a ton of money and being at the top of your field, or finding your soulmate and living a comfortable but not wealthy life?
Me: The second option, no contest.
Pat: Money and happiness have no equivalence besides that which the person trying to be happy places in it. Wealth will never make one happier in and of itself. Power and perfection night, but those are ever fleeting goal and one who seeks them eternally will only find failure in the end. My philosophy on life, i hope it's right, for it guarentees me happiness, which is what really matters. You see, the best possible future i can see right now involves me living near the Catskill moutains, owning a leatherbound book store, constantly filling myself with knowledge, and maybe writing a few articles and such here or there. The pursuit of knowledge innately makes my happy, there doesn't have to be an end to it. This life would provide freedom from responsibilities, allowing me to do what seems to provide the highest amount of freedom in the short term, but would provide happiness on the long term.
Me: Sounds a lot like my plans, so I don't need to type anything else *rejoices*.

    And that is that.

Je me sens tres bien! J'ensigne francais a Sheila. C'est un peu difficile, mais je l'aime beacoup.
This morning I got out of the bathroom just in time to hear the traffic report on the radio. Normally, the traffic is the most boring part of the radio, but not on the radio station we're listening to now. It's an R & B station,a nd in the mornings they rap the traffic. Today it was "old school" aka beatnik style. They all snapped in the end. C'etait tres amusant. It's not everyday that the radio will give you the will to get through the day...
I would like to say a special thanks to Pat, who wasn't in physics today, and left me all alone *glares*. There will be retribution!
Maintenant, je vais partir (ne pleurez pas, je retournerai demain). Au revoir!

This or that Tuesday (one day late), featuring guest typist, Sean!

1. Lying down on the couch, or stretching out on a recliner?
Sean: Couch. We don't have recliners, and our couch is comfy.
Me: I have to agree with him. Couches are more comfy.

2. Going barefoot or wearing soft slippers?
Me: Truly, having your feet interact witht he ground is one of the more pleasurable experiences in this world, so I'd have to say barefoot all the way!... unless, of course, it's cold or there are jagged edges around. Then it's time to break out the slippers.
Sean: Summer-barefoot, winter-slippers.

3. Eating ice cream, or pizza?
Sean: Ice Cream.
Me: It depends on my mood and, more importantly, my tastebuds.

4. Watching on TV...a classic movie or a reality show?
Sean: I'd watch "The Mole" or "Murder in Small Town X" , but otherwise, it'd depend on the movie that was playing.
Me: Old movies! I'm a fan of b&w's, and I hate reality tv.

5. Wearing: blue jeans or sweat pants?
Sean: Jeans. I don't like the feel of sweats
Me: lol.. since I don't wear jeans unless skirts are impractical, I'd say sweats.

6. A long, soothing bubble bath or a quick, invigorating shower?
Sean: Bubble bath, although I haven't had one in a LOOONNG time.
Me: Bubble bath too. I'd love to have one now, where I just soak in the tub, with my hair pinned up and the radio blasting, not to meantion the really good book .

7. Furniture: leather, or something more on the fuzzy side?
Sean: Well, leather sticks in the summer and something fuzzy would be more sensual.
Me: I do';t know about sensualness, but I'll have to go with fuzz also. Leather has its drawbacks, both in the summer and in the winter.

8. Soft, classical music, or upbeat rock & roll?
Sean: Rock
Me: Usually I like rock, but some classical music, especially some of Tchaikovsky's lesser-known pieces, is wonderful.

9. Darkness or light?
Me: I like darkness when I'm trying to sleep, and light when I'm awake. I love moonlight, which gives everything a sort of enchanted quality.
Sean: Well, I don't know.

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You get married, or otherwise begin cohabitating with a significant other. S/he moves into your place, but brings with them the UGLIEST chair you have ever seen! You really don't want this thing in your home, but SO says it is the most comfy chair s/he has ever sat in, and no way will they part with it. Do you: grin and bear it, or scheme to get rid of the montrosity somehow?
Me: I guess I'd ahve to grin and bear it. It may be moved to the darkest corner, but I couldn't just get rid of it. It's not fair. I know I wouldn't want my comfys tuff thrown out. However, if it was to magically fall apart somehow... *evil grin*
Sean: Grin and bear it. If they like it, it stays.
