This is the system I use to rate games. I look at 4 different aspects of any game and judge them on a 0 - 10 scale. Look below for explainations of the different aspects and what the numbers mean. Categories Graphics : Because all SNES games are 16 bit, this puts them on an even playing ground. So graphics really are a measure of artistic programing and how well the developers used what they had. Sound : Sound is an important and often overlooked aspect of any game. I rate games on how well the incorperate sound into the game as well as how cool the sounds are. This also includes game music and menu sounds. Fun : This category is pretty simple. How fun is the game? Does the gameplay leave you with a smile or do you constantly feel like you've been cheated. How satisfying is the game? Creativity : We've all played side-scrollers! Running, jumping and shooting enemy after enemy can get old. Points are awarded to games that take a new angle and vary the gameplay. Mario Paint and Harvest Moon are good examples of creative games. The Numbers I rate each category on a 0 - 10 scale then add them all together and divide by 4. The result is the overall score. 3-4..................."Okay..." 5-6......................"Good" 7-8..............."Very Good" 9-10..............."Awesome!" I try to be fair and I'm open to suggestion. If you really disagree with one of my ratings you can send me a letter and I'll consider it. I respect everyone's opinion and it's very possible that I overlooked something. |
