FAIREY DELTA 2
On the 10th March 1956, piloted by Peter Twiss, this aircraft set a new World Air Speed Record of 1132mph.
Some 310mph faster than the previous record.
The hinged nose or "droop snoot" enables the pilot to have a improved view when landing and taxying. This feature was later used in the Concorde Aircraft.
This particular aircraft WG774 was rebuilt and used in the Concorde development programme.
