HOME PAGE | The
Pre-Course Project To write a short piece associated with ideas of idyll, vanishhing, vanished or imaginary, with six dyads as a starting point: These dyads were taken from bars 6-9 of the string quartet by Thomas Adès, called "Arcadiana". Malcolm played a recording of this work, and analysed it with us; and also described how he put together his piano trio (2003). During the Canford week it was suggested that we write an even shorter piece, with the same theme in mind, but based on the other six notes (not in the original six dyads). Most people were strict and only used these six notes, but there were a few 'flowers'! |
