It might be little occupying projects for him, but inadvertently they affect us users as well. First he adds on the tedious karma system, which is complete garbage. I'm sure myself and many others, even some elites on the top 50 list would agree with this.

Then he adds Board Manager, which makes adding and subtracting your favorites more difficult. Then finally as a last step to crush our morale, he takes away our liberty to keep old topics bumped. I honestly do not know why I come here anymore. Maybe it is for the game discussion, but no one talks like before. There is no "zing" anymore.

Yes, in order to freshen up the troops, he should add internet strippers to the sides of every page. That way, everyone will post continually to see each and every one of them.

I agree that the karma system isn't the best thing ever, but I think the board manager is cool, and the other changes are to speed up the site because it's so popular....

Ceej added Karma to coax lurkers into posting, as it's all too easy to get to elite without posting a single message. However, us who actually have lives outside of GameFAQS have to stop in and post regularly for karma. Hell, I'm actually starting to post more (and on CE, too) instead of stopping by and posting a karma post at some intellivison game board...

The number of people here keeps increasing and it's slowing down the server, so by implementing new, annoying policies some of the people will leave, thus making the site faster for the remaining people.

Makes sense Scum. I think soon to increase the speed of the boards for us, CJayC will begin deleting banned names or getting rid of newbies accounts. "I heard CJayC deleted his own mother to speed up the boards!"

Now that I think about it, I like the karma system better than the Aura system from GameFAQs Hell (I had a brief stint there). At least I'm guaranteed karma when I post here, instead of trying to cater to other people's senses of humor to get beyond n00b status...

God, its just a frickin message board, its not the end of the world. Be concerned all you like, but you're only coming off as being petty.

I sound petty? You're the one complaining about other people complaining on a message board. Why are you concerned about that? No one is acting like it's the end of the world.

A bit of GameFAQs history? Just take one look at the FFT main board for example. There are many old topics filled with useful information, and it's like that on most game boards. Seriously, how much of a strain do these topics put on the server if they only serve a minority?

You should probably ask CJayC that question.

If the topics are so important, then save them, put them on a website and link to them with a new topic. A simple matter.

Seriously, I can't see this making a big impact on speed, but it will kill a lot of good topics and will take all of the fun out of secret board hunting.

And why do so many people think that saying this is only an internet message board is a valid counter argument? Did anyone ever say that it wasn't an internet message board?
From: Turd Ferguson | Posted: 4/21/2002 9:22:30 PM | Message Detail
Why not delete all the boards and just save the posts on a website? It would speed up the server. Maybe that wouldn't work, because people still post on them with new information and intelligent discussion.

And it's not impossible to delete all the topics every day, everyone just has to save them and upload them to their websites. It would take an incredible load off the server.

That nonsense doesn't even cover what this does to secret boards.

There's no way around this. The topics become closed after six months.

And I'm aware that day old topics aren't six months old. I was trying to show that not every decision that speeds up GameFAQs by the tiniest amount is automatically the right one.

Eh... I just read the topic Ceejus made about it... I have no problem with a tightened purge schedule but that 180 days to closure thing is just pure BS... The topic number being out of sequence? Sure it could index a little slower but frig... Old topics aint that ****ing bad... If he really gave a damn about the speed of the site enough to sacrific his precious ad banner loads he would destroy the mandatory post preview... That ****ing pain in the ass makes everything take twice as long... it dont need to be there... the only reason it exists is cause it causes a new ad banner to load doubling the clickles for nickles.

I'm surprised with how angst ridden everyone in CE is that there havent been screams of "Sell Out" ringing off the walls for a long time now... I mean... All that gamespot junk... my simon... radio spots..er interviews... bigger and bigger ad banners... Ceej had given up on this place being a "community" back when he killed the chat cause it wasnt generating any income... since then he could give a flying **** about what any of the users think... as long as they keep out of his hair and keep refreshing the pages he doesnt care what they think... and yet not once have I seen a CJayC is a Sellout topic... Cause even if you dont think so... I bet he has some insecurities about it...
