In the history of science and technology, Automobile is taking the highest hierarchy based on their fundamental growth in developing our world. Every nooks and crannies of the world around us is full of automobiles and machine. Many institutes, organizations and firms have proved their instinctive and are still proving their potentials in improving the world's technology to enhance easy and peaceful life for individuals. Among these great institutes and organizations is the department of Mechanical Engineering, of the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.

The Department was founded when the college came into existence in the year, 1993. Then, the Head of Department now the Acting Rector of the College presently, Engr, M.A. Esho made his possible best to procure the accreditation of Ordinary National Diploma Certificate (OND) in Mechanical Engineering for the Department. Month-past-months, semester-past-semesters, session-past-sessions, the population of the student increased with no measure alongside with the staff strength.
In the year 1998, Engr. B.A. Oyebamiji, A Master Degree Holder in Meteorological Engineering, with Diploma in Computer Programming, Became the Head of the Department. A year after, he became the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. During his stay in office as the Dean of the Faculty, he met the standards required from NABTEB for the accreditation of Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical/Electronics Courses. More so, He achieved in securing the accreditation of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Certificate in Computer Science and Mathematics/Statistics Courses in the Year 2001 before he retired of the office as the Dean of the faculty and he took back his post as the HOD of the Mechanical Engineering Department a foretime.

Till this present moment, Engr. B.A. Oyebamiji still remains the Head of The Department and proportionally has doubled the potentials of the department students in all activities with the help of the department lecturers in the College. Emphatically, the students of the department has gone far and wide in designing, molding and implementing Nutshellers, Incubators, Grinding Machines and so many other mechanical equipment. He greatly advised the students to be courageous, self sufficient, of high reasoning ability, Skilful, Of broad vision and Diversified brain since these are the major attributes of an engineering student.

He later went on in beseeching the Government to encourage Technologists in this society of ours by allocating more funds for researches and projects building so that the society may have more inventions to enhance rapid growth and development.
Announcement! Announcement!! Announcement!!! - All Pre-ND students are required to resume back to campus latest 10th of December, 2005. Failure to resume on time attracts the fee of #2,500 naira which will be paid to the college's account at any Afri-Bank around you.

Briefly, the Students' Executives in Mechanical engineering department were elected under the umbrella of the Mechanical Engineering Students Association, Nigeria(MESA). The association was established in the Faculty of Engineering of the Osun State College of Technology in the year 1994 by the effort of Com. Gbenga Olufemi, HNDI Mech. Dept. then.
