Why Can't You feel My Pain?

As I staggered toward that rugged cross
I could see you in my mind.
I loved you with my broken heart
My love was color blind.

Whether black or white or shades of brown
I loved you all the same.
My death brought life, into every soul
Who would call upon my name.

With every stripe upon my back
Somewhere, someone was healed.
And with every drop of blood that fell
All my promises were sealed.

As that hammer pounded into those nails
I could feel your many pains.
And with every thorn that pierced my brow
Brought you freedom from your chains.

With my body bruised and battered
With every slap upon my face.
I could feel the sin that had you bound
So I gladly took your place.

As I hung upon that rugged cross
And my life hung by a thread.
I saw my Children, so full of hate
Forgetting all the words I've said.

Stop judging those for whom I died
Leave the judging all to me.
I'm the only one, who has earned that right
As I hang upon this tree.

I think that I have suffered enough
This is where I make my stand.
So release the hate that's in your heart
And the rocks that's in your hand.

How many more times, must I die
I thought that once would do.
My blood, I shed for everyone
Not just a chosen few.

So as you look upon every man
Please see them through my eyes.
You will see my mark upon their heads
You will hear their many cries.

Was my sacrifice, made of none effect
Did I die for you in vain?
Did I die for love, so you can hate
Why can't you feel my pain?
