"Poem Commentary & Related Scripture"

"Giving Thanks" came to me on none other
than Thanksgiving Day as I was thanking God for all
of his wonderful blessings. The more I prayed, the
more rehearsed and ho-hum my prayer of Thanksgiving
sounded. Don't get me wrong, even the smallest of
things, we should give God thanks for, but for some
reason I felt a deeper thanks was needed. I think
we all get into a routine of thanksgiving, that
frankly, God gets bored with. We thank him for surface
things, and material things that to my ears started
sounding a little selfish. I mean,"thank you God for
Kitty Bob" and "Thank you God for your spiritual gifts"
are worlds apart. I guess I just feel a deeper thanks
is needed in all of our lives. A deeper walk, A
sincere praise, a hearty thanks, to a God who deserves
it all and without whom we would all be lost, with
nothing to give thanks for. We celebrate Jesus'
resurrection one day a year, his birth one day a
year and emphasize giving God thanks one day a year.
IS THAT ENOUGH!!!

Psalms 30:12..Psalms 97:12..
Psalms 105:1-5..Psalms 106:1&2..Psalms 107:1&2..

Giving Thanks

On this day of thanks, I must confess,
my burden seems so light.
And I thank you for your Spirits gift,
that inspires me to write.

I thank you for that rugged cross,
where you died for me that day.
And thank you for your precious blood,
that washed my sins away.

I thank you for the gift of faith,
that keeps me going strong.
And thank you for your soon return,
I know it won't be long.

I thank you for your loving arms,
that hold me in the night.
And thank you Lord, for wisdom found,
that gave me strength to fight.

I thank you for your blessings full,
that rest upon my life.
And thank you for your perfect choice,
when choosing me a wife.

I thank you for my Family Lord,
and all the Love we share.
And thank you for my parent's love,
that has put me in your care.

I thank you for the Father God,
who sent you to this earth.
And for the Holy Spirit's power,
who conceived your virgin birth.

I thank you for your Holy Word,
that guides my every thought.
The inspired words of God himself,
that the Holy Spirit taught.

I thank you Lord, for loving us all,
a love we don't deserve.
And thank you for your saving grace,
and allowing me to serve.

My thanks could never be enough,
for all that you have done.
So it honors me to give my life,
to serve Jehovah's Son.

I will thank you Lord, on every day,
and keep your praises on my lips.
And your Spiritual blessings, I will absorb,
as that latter raining drips.

So on this day, Thanksgiving Day,
my thanks to you is poured.
Because no one else deserves my praise,
but Jesus Christ, The Lord.
