Two days after Sarah’s death, Adol Christian returns to Placid Row and heads to her house, wanting to inform her of all that has transpired.
Adol reaches Sarah’s, but upon entering, he finds Olan standing before her front table. Curious, he approaches the man.
“Excuse me sir, but is Miss Tovah here? I have news from her aunt Jevah.”
“You must be the hero that Sarah had told me about. She was killed the day before after that cursed dark tower was destroyed. She told me that a young man fitting your description would return back to her place, and in the event that some thing happens to her, she wanted me to give you this book.”
Olan hands Adol Sarah’s book which had happened to be one of the six books of Ys, Volume Tovah.
“How….how did she…whom killed her?” asks Adol. “By the goddesses I swear I’ll kill them…”
“She was murdered by a horde of monsters that had invaded the city. Brayzal had delivered the fatal blow.”
“Damn those things….What happened to the monsters? Where…”
“We were saved once again by the Red Dragon Knight, Shiva Saotome. He’s the one whom destroyed that evil tower, and may very well be the most powerful warrior in the history of the land. But he seemed a little unstable after Sarah had died. That’s why I didn’t give the book to him.”
“I see…Well, I’m headed back to Zeptik Village, to let Mrs. Jevah know about Sarah.”
“Be careful young Adol. May the spirits of the goddesses watch over you.”
Adol heads back out and ponders this turn of events on his way back to Zeptik. It was hard for him to believe that Sarah was dead, but the news of another warrior really made him wonder.
“When I checked out the ruins of the tower, there was nothing but charred ruins and burned bodies of monsters. I couldn’t even tell if there was a book within the tower or not.”
He soon arrives back in Zeptik and heads to Jevah’s house once more. He was a little hesitant to enter, but he walked up to the old lady with a sad face.
“Adol, you seem troubled. What’s bothering you?”
“I…I’ve returned from Placid Row, and…and…”
“Did Sarah give you the book? You must’ve seen her nude or something.”
Jevah chuckles while Adol drops his head.
“Mrs. Jevah, Sarah’s dead. She was murdered two days ago.”
Jevah’s eyes widen in surprise as Adol tells her everything that he heard in Placid row.
“Is that so…such a thing happened…Sarah…”
Much to Adol’s surprise, Jevah wasn’t as upset as he’d thought she’d be.
“Sarah knew of the risks involved with becoming a fortuneteller, she brought it all upon herself……….but yet, the loss of my only niece is saddening. I do see that she has left you our family treasure. Have you found any of the other books?”
“Yes. Out of the ruins of the tower, I’ve recovered two more books. They were all that I could find.”
“Only two? There were supposed to be three. Dragon Knight Saotome must’ve claimed the third book. Adol, you must recover the book from him. He is a sensible young man, and shouldn’t give you a hard time. But do keep your guard up. The Red Dragon is a fiery one.”
“I will. Is Feena doing better?”
“She is. She went out for a walk awhile back, probably by the dock.”
Adol heads out and sure enough, spots Feena by the dock. She was looking out toward the sea when Adol approached her.
“Adol……isn’t it amazing how beautiful the ocean can be? Such a great body of water, not yet touched by the hand of evil. If only I could remember more about my past…I somehow feel that my past is locked within the beauty of this land.”
“Feena, I….I…”
Adol drops his head and embraces Feena.
“I must head out and find a man by the name of Shiva…please Feena, stay here with Jevah and look after her. I’ll return here soon, I promise.”
Adol looks into Feena’s eyes as he prepares his gear and leaves Zeptik Village in search of the heartbroken Dragon Knight. His journey promises to take him to new adventures and new lands, seeing how his quest was just beginning.
