Much time had passed since Adol left out to find the missing Dragon Knight Shiva Saotome. He was in the village of Rance, and had just defeated a demon by the name of Darm therefore restoring peace to the land. Lair and Feena had revealed themselves as the goddesses of Ys and were a key factor in Adol’s victory.
During his adventures throughout the land, Adol had befriended and saved the life of a young peasant girl by the name of Lilia. He bids her farewell as he and his friend Dogi prepare to head back to the village of Zeptik. The journey was a long one, and they had to stop in numerous cities and villages along the way. The one thing that had puzzled them was the fact that the villagers still seemed down and depressed, despite the fact that peace was restored.
“Hey Adol, what’s the deal with all of these people? The legendary warrior destroyed Dark Fact long ago, and you defeated Darm over two months ago. I don’t understand.”
Adol was equally puzzled.
“Neither do I old friend. Let’s ask one of the villagers.”
Adol and Dogi head over to the clinic and ask the nurse at the counter about why the people seemed so sad and oppressed.
“You don’t know?!” asked nurse Tonya in a surprised tone. “Ever since that demoness Arisa appeared, we’ve all been wondering how long it will take her to reach our town.”
“Arisa?!”
“Yes, Arisa.” states Tonya. “What land are you from? Arisa De Leon is the worst demon to ever assault the land of Ys. Just the mention of her name brings terror to the entire land.”
“Could you please enlighten us as to this…Arisa?” asks Dogi.
Nurse Tonya closes the door and all of the windows of the clinic.
“Not too long ago, two days after the defeat of Darm to be exact. A strange woman had appeared in the southern regions of the Ice Park and claimed that the land of Ys was not fit to be left untouched by the light of justice. She scorched the entire park and the resulting flood wiped out the surrounding villages, killing thousands and thousands of people. Arisa seemingly drew power in off of the massacre. Numerous warriors had left to confront the demon, seeing how she made herself very easy to find. Every single one of them died a horrible death. There was no limit to what she would do, ranging from exploding your heart, to crushing your entire skeleton with a gravity well. She even slit an incision on the stomach of another warrior and pulled his intestines out.”
Tonya kinda shivers and turns her back to Adol.
“Arisa was last seen inhabiting the Shrine of Solomon. The only hope we have is that the legendary Red Dragon Knight will come back to save us. But even he might be in over his head. Arisa is too powerful to be beaten. I have told you all that I know, please leave. I don’t want to invite De Leon’s wrath to this clinic. These people are already hurt, and it is only a matter of time before Arisa’s path leads here.”
Adol and Dogi nod and thank Tonya for her help. Upon leaving the city, they begin to think that this Arisa might be a powerful servant of Darm.
“Adol, this Arisa may be over our heads, mayhaps the goddess can take care of her?”
“I don’t know Dogi, this woman sounds intensely cruel. We have to hurry and get to Zeptik Village. If she resides in Solomon Shrine, then Zeptik and Minea might be next in her warpath!”
Dogi agrees and they both pick up the pace on their long trek back to Zeptik.
After a long and depressing journey, Adol and Dogi make it back to Zeptik Village. The trek was long and tiresome, and ever city that they had stopped in was living in fear of the Demoness Arisa.
Their first stop was at Jevah’s house to make sure that she was all right. “Jevah? Jevah are you alright?”
Adol burst into the house and the elderly woman was quite happy to see him. Her son Goban was at her side.
“Adol, thank the goddesses that you are alive!” speaks the old lady. “That darned woman has taken over the shrine.”
“Woman?” asks Dogi. “Do you mean De Leon?”
“So you’ve heard of her?” asks Goban. “She appeared in the heart of the city after burning down our den. She was breathing a bunch of bullshit about purifying this land of the selfishness and heartlessness infesting it. Numerous warriors tried to confront her, but the bitch incinerated them with little effort.”
“Adol, that woman is insane. You must defeat her. But please, use extreme caution. She is horribly powerful.”
“I…I will. Dogi, stay here and help Goban look after Jevah. I’m going after that Arisa.”
“No problem. Goban and I are old pals, it’ll be like old times! But you be careful.”
“I will, she’s probably one of Darm’s lost servants.”
“Adol take this.”
Jevah hands Adol a strange green pendant and gives him a final bit of advice.
“That pendant will nullify her fire attacks by 6/8. Exercise extreme caution, her aura is filled with hatred and malice.”
Adol readies his gear and head north for Solomon Shrine. Suprisingly it was empty of all monsters and life. There were the charred remains of a few monsters but nothing other than that.
“She apparently isn’t too fond of having servants around.” thinks Adol to himself. “The less monsters that I have to fight, the merrier.”
He slowly makes his way to the lower levels of the shrine, and after an hour or so, he comes across a long hallway that emitted an intense heat wave.
“Yep, she’s most definitely down here. Good thing I brought my Icebrand sword along, this woman’s a fire elemental.”
Adol readies himself and rushes down the hallway, entering a large chamber area turned throne room. A beautiful young woman lay before him with her eyes closed, leaning her face against her fist. Her body was totally covered by a strange black cloak. It almost seemed to be metallic.
“Arisa De Leon, I presume?”
The woman slowly opens her dark brown eyes and looks upon Adol with an emotionless face.
“......”
“You ARE Arisa, aren’t you? Why, why have you too decided to threaten this land? Darm was already enough to deal with, the last thing that this land needs is another evil tyrant wreaking havoc upon it. What grudge do you hold against the goddesses to commit such unspeakable acts such as eviscerations, and decapitations?”
“......”
“Are you so full of anger that you can’t even speak? At least tell me why you have done such a thing.”
“......”
“Your soul is so stained with rage that I almost feel sorry for you. Your own hatred should be your enemy, not this land.”
“Then tell me, what do you consider justice?”
“Huh?!”
“Or rational, if you will. Is the truth your rational for living life the way you do?”
“Wha…what are you trying to say?”
“Just this. Words like justice and freedom are empty concepts that have led societies through cancerous histories. Through the ages, those who have blindly believed in these ABSOLUTE truths have fought and died over empty platitudes. Today, you’ll find people mistaking their own greed for truth and eating the planet out from under them, while condemning themselves to total annihilation in the process. Chanting their democracy and freedom as though they were a religion. They’re cheerfully justifying their own journey toward self-destruction.”
“What does that have to do with your terrorizing the land? Are you one of Darm’s lackeys?”
“You have no clue at all. Darm wanted to rule over this pathetic land as part of his ultimate revenge upon the goddesses, but he was blinded to the ignorance of the masses. YOU whom claimed to have restored peace unto the land by defeating that over-ambitious whelp, you have no idea that the only way to truly save this disgusting land, is to destroy everything and let the goddesses start anew.”
“You MONSTER!!! Whom gave you the right to be the judge, jury, and executioner of a land that’s not even your own? NO ONE!!! No one has that kind of right! How can you even THINK of doing such a horrible thing?! You shouldn’t live your life totally secluded into hatred!”
“YOU shouldn’t live YOUR life believing in such empty ideology. Can you defend your truth with your sword?”
Arisa rises from her throne-like daybed, and faces Adol. Adol in return, draws his sword and mentally prepares himself for another hard battle.
“This…this woman’s spirit is sad, but overwhelmingly powerful. Can I win? I have to!!!”
