T'was a few months before Christmas,
and all through this house,
no one was thinking of holidays,
not even the mouse.

The family was busy,
summer in full bloom,
and for thoughts of Christmas,
there was no room.

The children were swimming,
lots of fun outside,
Mom and dad were busy too,
no thoughts of Yuletide.

No one seemed to notice,
and it's really nothing new,
but time slipped away
as time is meant to do.

Soon the days grew cooler,
a chill in the air.
No more playing outdoors
it just didn't seem fair.

Still no thoughts of Chrismas
no time for that,
not even for the mouse,
who was busy evading the cat.

But then one morning,
their faces all aglow
children gazing out the window,
at the new fallen snow.

Their thoughts turned to snowmen,
snow balls, and snow-angels too
and then suddenly it hit them
and they knew what they must do

Out came the paper,
oh, and crayons too,
bright red, green, and yellow
and the prettiest shade of blue

Brows furrowed in concentration,
eyes bright as could be
each child began to write......

OKAY!!!! So you've got a little while, never hurts to start early!!!
