"Supporting Our Dads Through Caring For Each Other"

Now it's YOUR turn to "sound off" about your thoughts/ideas/opinions concerning anything going on in your world at the present time. After all, that's "our" - the american public's right. We are fighting a war and have done so numerous times in our history for this very reason. So come on - speak out - sound off. We want to hear what you have to say.

Well I guess I would say I have mixed emotions about the whole "war" thing. I feel like yeah it's a good cause to help the people over there become liberated and for them to have their own government instead of being under a dictatorship.BUT I feel like once we've helped them establish their government and they have their "freedom" then we should let them handle the rest by themselves. I know that sounds kind of rude, but I don't personally see the point in sending more and more people to Iraq once the people there have started a new way of life. I feel like their Army, Navy, Police, and whatever else there is should take responsibility for their country. Now I understand why we attacked them back after September 11th and I was all for that, but now we've caught Sadam Hussan (sp?) and his sons are dead. The only real problem is Osama Bin Laden. I guess we should catch him too. It kinda makes me mad though.. because the United States is suppose to be all "high tech" with security and blah blah blah.. but we can't find one man? That irritates me a bit, but I guess it could get on anyones nerves.

I know my dad and everyone else that is over there or that is going over there are going for a good reason, and I really do support them. I just feel theres a breaking point on how long and how far we should push war.

As for my dad being gone, it's hard and I miss him everyday. I know the next 2 years Im going to be doing alot of growing up. Im already taking on more responsibility than I have before and when school starts up its gonna be that much harder. But yeah I do miss him and love him very much, and I wish he were here with us instead of where he's at. =(

Okay well there's my opinion! =P

I feel the same way Abby does. Some of my emotions are a little bit different though.

I think that once they have their freedom, we should step back and let them handle it themselves. Like I said before, I feel the same way Abby does. Let their Police, Navy, and Government take it on without our help. Saddam has been caught, now we should focus on Bin Laden.

I realize that we have been dealing with Saddam for several years. In court he made the comment that,"this is all theater, the real criminal is Bush". I may be mad at Bush, but that is a total lie. It was said that in court Saddam remarked twice, "I am Saddam Hussein, the president of Iraq."

I think all of this is nonsence! That may sound rude,b ut I know a lot of people that would agree with me. My dad and friends love their job, they wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm behind them 100%, and support them as much as I can. I love them very much, but I'm not going to take them away from something they love. If it makes them happy, then that's all that matters.

Thats what I think about this whole "war" thing.

Ok, I have waited long enough I guess.

I am not a very political person. I don't keep up with coverage of the president...the presidential candidates...what they are doing...whats being said...etc AND I hate to watch coverage of the war on CNN or any other news show. The reason I don't watch it is because of all the negativity and because it tends to make me nervous from time to time. It is very rare that you watch a news show that you see an interview about all the good things going on.

I guess my opinion is the same as most everyones. I have heard a million times that this is a war we shouldn't be fighting and I can't help but agree. I mean, we are putting so much at risk trying to help the people of the other countries...our soldiers, our families, and our own lives. Then again, when you think of it, isn't that what it is all about - doing unto others? I would sure hope that if I lived the way that the people of Iraq have to live, that someone would help me...to build a future, to find freedom...for me and for my children.

I guess the reason that this is hard for me...and for everyone else is because in our own selfish little way, we don't want to lose our dads...or brothers...or whoever. (for me its good close friends) We want them here...at home with us and safe. But the truth is, they are needed over there. There is no way to change the fact that this war has started. We can't go back and change any of it so the best thing to do is just send our troops, our families and our friends off with our blessing and hope for their safe return. A very smart young girl said that these guys are doing what they want to do...and this is so true. These guys are corageous men who have hearts of gold. They are brave and strong and more ready to handle this challenge than we, their family and friends, are. They joined the Army, the Navy, the Marines, the Air Force...or the National Guard always knowing that there was a possibility of having to fight a war. Some of them were more ready than others. All in all, I guess it doesn't matter whether or not I want this war...It doesn't matter whether or not I support Bush's decisions right now. What matters is that I support our troops and wish them the best in this long journey ahead of them...and us.
