Our first stop was the metro. It's extremely clean. We learned how to travel on their subwaysystem, which is just a tad different between the archaeological exhibits, and the guards with submachine guns.
Our first stop was the Palace and the Changing of the Guards.
After that, we shopped for a bit on the trendy strip, and then met up and attended a Greek orthodox mass at a large Cathedral. Benedictine hymns were sung. It was quite different, people come in and light candles, and kiss icons of Jesus.
Next we went for dinner. We ended up at a restaurant we weren't sure of the name, after conquering the linguistic barrier, i eventually ordered like an extended sample plate. I tried moussaka, baklava, wrapped grape vine leaves, round beans, fried cheese and of course, Greek Salad. I have had so much feta cheese today.
We all have made a lotof observations about differences between here and home, besides the obvious.
First, people drive insanely.
Second, people smoke everywhere, in the McDonalds, in shops, in the airport, everywhere.
By the time we finish dinner, we're exhausted, we've been up for 32 straight hours. Time for bed, we're all in desperate need of sleep.
On the second day...
