Although intially we had encountered nice hard sand after the rains earlier in the week, we soon ran into some soft stuff, and of course with the sun getting higher it proved trickier to read the sand and a few errors occurred.

Colin slipped into this small bowl of soft stuff, however using low range and diff lock he managed to drive out unaided.

First waypoint

Soon we reached the first waypoint for lunch after about two hours of driving. Mike C and his group were already there and the two Alans were not far behind, whilst Marcin and Michel were out of radio contact, although we had seen them earlier.

The two Alans arrived with their team and we settled to have lunch under the tree amongst the camel droppings
