Rumah Sands

The road drive was tedious, then after some rough terrain we met up with Roger, whose name caused my dehydrated brain to become confused when we were communicating by radio (Roger Roger).

Tyres deflated and we hit the dunes. It has been some time since I drove a manual in the sand, but with the diff-lock on, the Disco performed rather well.

Unfortunately when following JW, I stopped in the wrong place, and had to be winched out, after which JW and I swapped vehicles and I drove the 110 for a bit, which had a total different character from the Disco. Never got into third and probably spent more time in first.

Roger was having some problems with low ratio, and JW had a puncture on the 110 after we swapped again. Add to that we were driving around mid-day and the light was such it was difficult to read the sand (no shadows), sometimes when JW disappeared over a couple of dunes I had no idea which direction he took because his tracks were almost invisible.

Naturally I managed to cross axle the Disco and JW came to the rescue.
