Eid Al Fitr Day 1 cont'd

Ruba and Killian descending into the U-turn

Bilad Seet, a mountain village with terraced farming

At the junction for Bilad Seet, we turned off to have a view of this mountain village and a brief encounter with the local population before heading back onto the main trail again. Again some more oncoming vehicles were encountered including another Disco (with CD plates, I am sure it was the British Ambassador to Oman), as well as a trio of 3.7 Jeep Cherokees, the last of which speedily passed us by descending in what definitely was not low ratio due, no doubt with a high probability of brake fade at some stage.

We arrived at the top around 16:30, the last section from Bilad Seet to the summit being very spectacular, and found a suitable area that could accommodate all our vehicles and made camp, whilst refreshing ourselves of course. I also found the source of a knocking sound on my roof which had been happening for about the last 30 minutes, one of my spotlights had broken off! It was however a bit windy, and soon shorts were replaced with long trousers and fleeces appeared.

BBQs were lit, more refreshments were consumed around a nice fire and off course Stefan’s Black Death made its rounds. The rest of the evening is fuzzy for me so I must have enjoyed it.
