Returning
Series- Compared
If
you liked
"New Series- Compared!," just wait for the new season. It's just
like "NS-C!," only with the older series you have come to love. Sure,
you
may not care, and the last season may have been one too many for you,
but
we promise you'll love the new one! Particularly if you're in the age
group
18-49, or, better yet, 18-34!
But
in reality,
the new season probably won't do as well as the last one, despite
JustTV's
best hopes. Competition from other websites will wear our viewership
down.
Age will cause our "viewers" to lose interest and move on to other,
more
exciting websites. And even if the new season is good, maybe viewers
have
just forgotten about us. Maybe we're not comforting enough in this post
9/11 world.
This
is what
alot of returning series must have been wondering when they returned
from
summer vacation in September. Alot of series took a big deep in
viewership,
while others prospered. But just as in the new series section, how can
you say which series are underperforming and which series are heating
things
up? Well, here's a way.
There
are three
categories, each with a base total of 100 points. The first is of how
the
series is doing this season compared to last season (ie- "Dark Angel"
is
holding 50.1% of it's audience from last season, which equals 50.1
points).
The second category is of how the show is doing compared to what aired
in its timeslot last season ("Angel" is holding 77.3% of the timeslot
aud,
giving it 77.3 points). And the third category is how much of it's
lead-in
it's holding. For 8pm series, the "timeslot" category is double
counted.
Add them together and you get a number. Since 300 would be the base
total,
anything above is good, below is bad, horrible depending on how far
below.
On
to the show.
