Under-The-Radar Saturday
Just how under the radar was Saturday? Despite a huge hit in "The District" (which arguably got the least press of any new show- hit or not), no stories were written. ABC fared well with movies, but not a word. "Walker, Texas Ranger" announced that it would be putting itself to bed after 8 seasons, but nary a peep was said. The only press that Saturday got at all was when the "XFL" bombed worse than the Enola Gay over Hiroshima. (I'm really sorry for that one). Then it was week after week... I suppose as they say, there's no news unless there's bad news. And yes, I kow that nobody actually says that. Humor me.

Next season... things aren't going to change much, basically because there's so little to change. In fact, three networks already have their line-up set.

The only question mark is CBS. "The District" returning is a give-in. It's CBS's biggest new Saturday hit since "Early Edition" five seasons ago, and season-to-date it could pop into the top 25. "That's Life" returning to 8pm is something more iffy. We're penciling it in two two reasons: 1) Its ratings were stable during the season, usually drawing from 7.5 to 8.5 million viewers, and 2) A new drama would probably do no better in the slot. But against it is the fact that "Early Edition" was cancelled last season for similar ratings. It could go either way. At 9pm, "Kate Brasher" could slip through, although a new drama is more likely.
