CBS was firing
on all cylinders this
sweeps period and ended up as the only network up over last season. It
won by the widest maring in viewers in years, it won in adults 25-54
for
the first time in 20 years, and it nearly took the adults 18-49 crown.
What's not to love?

The total
opposite of CBS, NBC was
down in ever major category and none of its returning series were up
over
last season. The one bright spot was "Whoppi," which increased its
timeslot
by 44% over last season. Other than that, it was heavy bleeding all
around.

Okay, so it
wasn't exactely a winning
sweeps, but ABC did have some bright spots, especially on Thursday
&
Friday. Looking at all the networks, the ones in the best shape for the
future are CBS and ABC, thanks to a crop of young series that are
performing
well. Of course, ABC's isn't performing on the level of CBS.

There were some
weeks I wondered
aloud if Fox even knew that it was sweeps. And it shows. An utterly
disasterous
result, Fox has got to be just biding its time for mid-season.

Again, this is
NBC and Fox, only
worse. After a blazing sweeps last year, the WB fell back to earth and
gave back all of its gains. All of its new series have been crap, it'd
better have something good for the spring.

It wasn't
necessarily a bad sweeps
for the UPN, just a nothing sweeps. It got nowhere, but didn't lost
many
viewers in the process.
