Early Jason Dvd #9 August 17 - November 21, 1994: 4 hr original dvd Monica walks into the den where Jason is stuffing envelopes. She tells him about her surgery and Jason asks all the clinical questions. She tries to reassure him and tells him he's going to be a fine doctor. She asks Jason for his prayers. He says she's been in his prayers for a long time, as he fights back the tears. Monical admits she dreads telling AJ as they hold each other. Jason goes to his parents' room to see Alan and they both talk like doctors. Alan suggests Jason let himself react like a son instead of a doctor. Alan vents his anger that Monica had missed several mammogram and had been having symptoms for over month..." She's a doctor, she knows better, dammit". Alan asks Jason to promise to never let Monica know Alan said that. Jason promises to be supportive, and not just of his mother. Jason comes into the den red-eyed. AJ gets up and without saying a word they embrace each other and sob. Monica has to sign the usual surgical consent forms. Alan, AJ, and Jason arrive for a final visit before her surgery. In an emotional scene, Monica complains jokingly about her dislike of being treated like a patient. Jason is reassuring, but AJ is not taking it very well, especially when Monica makes a gallows-humor joke about seeing "breast of chicken" was on her menu. As the Q-men wait during Monica's surgery, AJ asks about the risks. When Jason answers matter-of-factly, AJ explodes out of worry and frustration accusing Jason of not caring. Alan interrupts and orders them to stop for his and Monica's sake. AJ paces around the waiting room with Alan and Jason. They stop short when the doctor arrives, presumably with news of Monica's condition. Jason shows up full of apologies to Keisha that he hasn't kept up on his share of the work. He tells her about Monica, and they hug.MaryMae comes in, and is not happy to see the hug and gets the news. Jason is all wound up, Keisha suggests tennis. MaryMae looks unhappy about this suggestion but when asked, she says sure, go ahead. They leave for the Q mansion for Jason to change. Keisha is left on the porch playing with Annabelle. AJ comes into the den and heads for the liquor. Keisha comes in and gives her best wishes regarding Monica, thereby saving AJ from himself. At first AJ is abrupt, then softens and tells her he is not handling post surgery well and that Monica looks awful and not strong, which has shocked him. Keisha gives him a pep talk. Keesha and Jason arrive at the gatehouse to see Miguel record. Brenda tries to get them to leave saying Lois likes to keep closed recording sessions for the tempermental singers. They don't quite buy it since Miguel did invite them. Then in walks Ned. Jason is amazed Ned is interested in music, but Ned's just there to see Brenda. When Ned hears Jason and Keesha are there to hear Miguel he quickly suggests they go to the house to talk about the incinerator, that the opposing sides should hear each other out. But before they're out the door in comes Lois. Somehow they let her know they know each other so no introductions are made except for Lois and Keesha (Ned is pretending to be Eddie Maine at this time and Lois doesn’t know he is really Ned Ashton yet). Lois agrees to let Jason and Keesha see Miguel record and takes them to the studio. Keesha and Jason have returned from a movie and are arguing good-naturedly about it. MaryMae is waiting for them and asks Jason about Monica. Jason says her that Mom is home, but is feeling depressed about the surgery. Then they discuss the toxic thingy. We learn that there's going to be a city council meeting next week that will address the concerns about the toxic plant. Jason is sure that he can swing Alan to their side. May-Mae exits. Keesha and Jason talk about school. She tells him that she's going to try and stay in Port Chuck and attend PCU, but she needs to get her dad's and MM's approval. He says, "Swell!" and they exchange a chaste kiss. MaryMae, who had come back downstairs, spies the kiss and looks dismayed. The kids kiss again, not so chaste this time. They move to the porch where Keesha bids him goodbye, after another kiss. Jason finally leaves and she sits down on the porch and stares dreamily after him. MaryMae comes out to talk with her. Keesha outlines her plans to stay in Port Charles and attend school. She asks MM if she'll talk to her Dad and get his permission. MM asks her if school is all that attracts Keesha to Port Charles. Keesha admits that she likes Jason but denies that it's serious. Keesha is shocked when May-Mae tells her that the powerful Quartermaines wouldn't allow Jason to get serious about her and that any relationship with Jason would have to be "friends only" with no hope of a future. Keesha is taken aback at her frankness, but MM's grim look stops any further argument. Jason wants to take Monica to her first chemotherapy appointment. Katherine and Jason argue about him supporting the opposition. As Jason practices his speech in some room, Katherine locks him in and leaves. Jason tries to come out of the closet, but no one hears his shouts. AJ finally hears Jason's shouts and unlocks the door. They both head off to the meeting. Blake starts the session. Katherine attempts to make a financial case for the project. To everyone’s surprise, Alan makes a speech against the incinerator. Jason is next, telling the council that ELQ is dishonest, and the project should be turned down. Justus calls for Blake's resignation. Despite Blake's denials, the City Council announces he will face another hearing on the bribery charges. Keesha and Jason are at MaryMae's discussing the city council meeting. They finally kiss each other again, MaryMae interrupts them. Jason soon leaves and Keesha tries to beat a retreat upstairs when MM says she wants to have a few words. She warns Keesha about her growing infatuation with Jason. Keesha tries to make light of it and insists that Jason's just a friend, albeit a "kissing friend"! MM presses on about the dangers of seeing Jason and the two start to wrangle it up when Justus wanders in and asks what's going on? Keesha tells him that MM doesn't want her to date Jason because he's white. MM says not to misunderstand what she's saying. She says that the Quartermaine family is powerful and dangerous and they're not going to welcome Keesha into it. The subject of race/racism flares up again and MM tells them to sit down, she's got a story to tell them. MaryMae spins a tale of her youthful indiscretions and how she fell in love with a white Naval Lieutenant. She says she deeply loved him and that they comforted and cared for each other during the dark days of WWII. Then she drops a bombshell, She says they became lovers and she bore the Lieutenant a son; that child was Bradley Ward. Justus looks completely stunned. MM goes on to say that when she married, her husband accepted Bradley as his own child. The only people who know about Bradley's white father were MM's parents, her husband, and Laura Spencer, to whom she confided the story one rainy afternoon over a big pitcher of martinis. Then he asks if Bradley knew that his father was white and MM says, "nope". MM tells them that the Lieutenant knew about the baby and offered to help her, but she declined. MM also says that she lost contact with the Lieutenant for many years but eventually ran into him again. That thread is dropped, for the present. Keesha asks MM how she can possibly object to Jason when MM's drunk from the same well. MM reiterates that she has no objection to Jason himself, it's the Quartermaine family who'll make trouble. Mary Mae tells Keisha about Edward’s gun. She wants the budding romance between her and Jason to stop. Edward makes the same request of Jason. Big confrontation between Katherine and the Q’s. She falls down the large staircase after having been poisioned. At Bradley Ward House Keesha questions Justus as to what is going on since she found Mary Mae sitting alone and crying the night before. Keesha wants Justus to share what's going on and she figures it's more than just Bradley's murder. With that Justus brings Keesha up to date with the latest developments including his father's affairs and how Judge Quinlan stopped the investigation into Bradley's murder. Keesha at first figures it's all that new knowledge that is disturbing Mary May but Justus ventures that their grandmother knows more, in fact she knew about a lot of it. Justus figures that Keesha should ask Mary Mae about it since he can't really explain it. Jason knocks at the Ward door and asks Keesha to come for a walk in the woods. She asks him "how much do you know about your grandfather?" Keesha tells him what she's found out about Bradley's murder and the hushup of the investigation, Jason has been mightily stressed out by family events of the last 24 hours and this is just about the last straw. Seems like there's always blackmail and big money projects where the Qs are. "Keesha, this happens to me all the time." Jason puts off the walk till another day and goes off to confront his grandfather. Jason storms in to see Edward, and wants to know what all the Bradley Ward stuff is about. Edward and he are in a loud argument when Monica comes in, says the family has to stick together because of the outside problems. Jason and Keisha arrive at Kelly’s to celebrate Ruby’s birthday. MM gives a very concerned look at them being together again. MM and Keisha have an argument Jason. Ruby's birthday party has wound down and just a few folks are left. Jason offers to take Mary Mae and Keesha home. Keesha readily accepts but Mary Mae would rather they go with Justus. Keesha points out that Justus is caught up in a discussion with Luke that looks like it has a ways to go and Mary May gives in. In the Ward living room, Jason finishes telling Keesha and Mary Mae a story about putting black olives on a stick and offering it to AJ as an "olive branch" when they were kids. Jason decides it's time to leave and Mary May tries not to watch as Jason kisses Keesha good night. Once Jason is gone Keesha and Mary Mae have another battle over Keesha dating Jason. Keesha will deal the the possibility of Edward having killed Bradley when it comes about. They get into a shouting match and Keesha walks out. Later Keesha returns to apologize and Mary Mae lets Keesha know she understands the kinds of feelings Keesha has of young love but she's just trying to protect Keesha from getting hurt. Mary Mae points out that all that matters to the Quartermaines is power and money and while they may not say anything now eventually they'll put their foot down about one of their grandsons seeing a "colored girl." Jason may not look like a Quartermaine or act like a Quartermaine but Mary Mae warns Keesha that he IS a Quartermaine. October 14, 1994 - The Qs hold a board meeting about how to divide up Damian’s shares of ELQ. Jason scolds the others about their greediness and suggests they just divide up the shares equally. Finally, they all agree if each person wanting shares can afford to buy them. AJ tries to get a loan, but Alan, Ned, and Edward refuse. Eventually, Lila agrees to lend him the money. They start arguing, Jason breaks it up and the Qs agree to divvy up the shares equally. Jason arrives at the church, Keesha and Mary Mae have already arrived. Keesha hurries over to him. They kiss in front of everyone and MaryMae gives them the eye from across the room. The Rev of the Charles St Church introduces Justus as a candidate. Justus gives a campaign speech. MM then gives a speech in support of his candidacy. Followed by Edward taking the podium to everyone's surprise. Justus does not look happy, even when Edward gives a campaign contribution. At home, Justus gets a threatening call telling him to return to Philly and to back off the incinerator project or he might end up like his father. Justus won't tell Keesha or Jason the details of the call, and although he agrees to tell the police, he insists that Mary Mae not be told. Jason and Keesha arrive at Justus'. It's dark and Jason tells her that she's beautiful and moves toward her. They make out for a short while then Keesha hits the lights. She squeaks when she sees cousin Justus laying on the floor having been beaten. Jason tells her to call 911 and the PCPD; he bends over Justus and checks for vital signs. The emergency guys arrive and cart Justus off to GH. Keesha goes to pick up MaryMae and Jason tags along with the ambulance. Mary Mae and Keisha arrive at GH. Justus has internal injuries and needs surgery. MM, Keisha,Jason and Luke are waiting in the hospital lobby. Sean comes in and Keisha and Jason tell him about the threatening phone call Justus received. Tony comes by with the news that Justus is in very critical shape, but evidently will not die. Ned returns to the mansion where Edward, Lila, Jason, and AJ are waiting for news from the grand jury. Jason expresses outrage over the attacks, and wonders why so many of the people who oppose their family end up in the hospital and when it might be his turn. Lila is shocked at the suggestion and orders an end to the subject. They turn on Tiffany's news program just in time to see Damian resign from the ELQ board at the same time mean-mouthing ELQ. In addition, he offers a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of Justus Ward's attackers. Keisha visits Justus. She tells him that until a couple of months ago she couldn't stand going to family getogethers, she felt like everyone was looking at her and waiting for her to uphold the Ward name. After watching and being with MM and Justus though, she is proud of it again. They chat, joke and bond. Jason gives Monica some tea. Jason suggests a party to celebrate the end of her chemo. Monica picks up that Jason and Keisha are dating when he compares Kesiha to Monica. He confirms it and gushes about Keisha. He then tells Monica that he was so wrapped up with being with Keisha and she with him, that they lost track of the time the night Justus got beat up. Monica cuts him off and tells him that they might have been killed if they had arrived and interrupted the beating. He mentions that MM wants them to cool it. They figure it is because Edward may be indicted for Bradly's murder. The Q’s gather to hear Ned sing at The Outback. The show begins with a rousing rendition of "Seventh Son" which receives a standing ovation. This is followed by a second more intimate ballad primarily directed to Lois, Ned get congrats all around. The next morning at breakfast, the Qs rib Ned a little about his concert but they were impressed. Edward’s trial starts. The prosecution calls Eugene, Kylie, and Steve Hardy to the stand. Edward’s trial continues with testimony from Lucky, Luke, and Mary Mae. Testimony about Edward’s gun being a match is given. Mac arrives at the courthouse with evidence that Jack Bolend and Frank Smith knew each other long before Jack claims. Edward’s attorney grills Jack Bolend on the stand. |
