This is an 8 hour edit that fits on two 4 hour dvds. Overall quality of most of it is quite good thanks to the collection of original Beta episodes so a ton of new footage added. I know have 16 hours of storyline edited on the new A&M #1 & #2 (before I only had maybe 2 hours for this same time frame so added a ton of additional footage).

Note: I did not cover the Alex and Edward Ice Princess involvement unless Alan or Monica were involved and in the room as part of a conversation. I do have the whole Ice Princess saga on the Luke & Laura & Robert edits, including Alex and Edward’s role in the caper (but all of that storyline is not included here).

Alan & Monica #2 February 18 - September 24, 1981: NEW 8 hour original edit

Dvd #2A 2/18 Alex pressures Lee to make a decision about representing ELQ. He discusses Luke and Laura living in the same apartment building and flaunting their relationship. He appreciates the offer to represent ELQ. Luke arrives and is warmed that the Baldwins are there. Luke assures Lee that he won’t see Luke much if he takes on the job, and Lee reluctantly accepts. Monica joins in toasting with her friends.

Meanwhile, Alan points off into the night that she can see the Quartermaine mansion, and all she has to do is open her shutters any night she is lonely and he will come running. He kisses her and tells her they have the whole night together. She wishes she could stop time as she doesn’t think she will ever be this happy again. They kiss and drink champagne. She thanks him for everything he has given her, such as the $50,000 note on the disco that he gave back to her and now this house!

He tells her that she will wake up in his arms in the morning and he will try to make her the happiest woman in the world. She asks if this will really be enough for him? He says having her for his own will be more than enough. She asks when he first noticed her? He shares when she challenged him if he would even notice if the right woman came along.

Later that night, they snuggle together in their bathrobes. She loves the quiet of the cottage. He tells her how wonderful she is and he is feeling more confident already. She smiles knowingly that she can see that. She feels decadent drinking champagne in the middle of the night. She feeds him grapes and laughs that he is a throw back to an old Roman emperor. He tells her that she is going to make all of his fantasies come true.

He asks when she is going to move in and he will send someone over to help her bring her things. She is surprised that he wants her to live there full-time and says she doesn’t want to cause him any trouble with Monica. She points out that her friends will know she can’t afford it. He tells her that she let him worry about that and leans over to kiss her again.

2/23 Alan and Susan are excited to be able to wake up in bed together in the morning. She asks if this will really be enough for him? He assures her that having for his own will be more than enough for him. He suggests that they spend the entire day in bed together. She brings him coffee in bed and tells him he did a great job outfitting the kitchen with everything she needed. He promises to give her everything she wants as she giggles in delight. She asks what she has done to deserve for all of this? He points out that she never asks for anything. She says when she is with him that she feels so protected and secure.

2/24 Alan and Susan are still in bed. Talk turns serious for a moment. Susan pities Monica and she vows not to make unnecessary demands on Alan. She accepts his marriage to Monica and promises that she respects that and she will never ask him for him to give her more than he can. She doesn’t ever want to turn into an obligation or a chore. He tells her that she is like a miracle, she is everything any man could ever want. He is so in awe of her.

3/3 Alan questions Alex over a list of unusual expenses. She doesn’t like being questioned and threatens him with her knowledge of Susan’s pregnancy. He warns her not to attempt to blackmail him, that he will never back down no matter how much she threatens him.

Alan is over at Susan’s and tells her that he is miserable as he has to leave her to go home. He already thinks of the cottage as home. He tells her to make any changes she likes to the cottage, she tells him that it is perfect just as it is. He loves being locked away from the rest of the world, with no phones. Alan and Susan develop a system for contacting each other. He will bring up a telescope so that he can look over to the cottage anytime.

Alex and Edward are talking about the search as Monica enters and questions what she overhead. Alex changes the subject and asks after Alan Jr. Jesse calls to tell her that Diana Taylor has been murdered and they are holding Anne for questioning. When Alan comes home, Monica tries to tell him the news but he brushes past him to go upstairs to see his son. Monica asks Edward & Alex about the disposition of the Paris accounts, that their 30 days are up. Edward promises her that the money has been replaced and she assures him that she will double check that.

3/4 Edward and Monica discuss the front page news of Diana’s murder, and Anne being a suspect. Edward thinks violence is hitting closer and closer to home. At GH, Monica tells Anne that she has never worked with a finer nurse or better person in her career. Anne thanks her and tells her that she is learning who her friend’s really are.

3/9 Monica and Gail share coffee in the cafeteria. Brian comes in and confirms the hospital chapel is reserved for Diana’s funeral. Gail tells Monica that PC is really Jeff’s son, Stephen Lars. Monica stops Leslie as she walks by and tells her how kind it is of her to take care of PJ. Leslie realizes that she has probably learned that PJ is Jeff’s son and a member of their family. Monica asks what about Heather laying claim to her son? Leslie doesn’t know what Heather will do.

3/10 Monica and Gail greet a very dressed up Leslie as she gets off the elevator. Tony Castle’s limo driver shows up to pick up Leslie. Classic scene as Monica looks ready to spit nails.

At home, Alex tells Alan that the project they are working on could make them the richest family in the world but doesn’t go into any details as Monica and Kathy enter. Monica raves to Alan about how great Kathy has been with Alan Jr. Monica then notices the telescope set up. Alan raves about the great view of the harbor. The Quartermaine’s discuss Lila’s art auction to benefit GH.

Susan opens her shutters signally Alan to come over. He calls her with glee over seeing her signal. She loves that he saw it. He snickers at placing the telescope right in the living room where everyone could see it. She tells him that she woke up that morning feeling pretty down, she can’t get Diana’s death out of her mind. He promises to be right there as Monica enters the room. He is honest with her that he was talking to Susan Moore and is headed over for some problem with the liquor license. He chastises Monica about being so curt to Alex. Monica points out that Alex is as nervous as a cat and is up to something.

When he arrives, Susan hugs Alan, thrilled to have him in her arms. She warns him that he took a big risk calling her like that when he could have just come over. He tells her that Monica did walk in and he told her they were discussing disco business. She is horrified and warns him that if Monica finds out about them that she will try to take Alan’s son away from him. He isn’t worried and laughs about it. Susan's fretting over how upset her aunt Alice is. She knows Alice is upset over Diana’s death. She shares that Alice told her that PJ is really Stephen Lars. Alan verifies that this is true.

Monica walks in and finds Kathy using the telescope. Monica laughs that sometimes Alan is just like a little boy. Then Kathy notices the cottage and describes it to Monica, how adorable it is and just across the way.

3/12 Alan, Monica, Edward, Lila arrive at GH for Diana’s funeral. The rest of the family head to the chapel, and Monica and Rick talk about timing, if Diana hadn’t told Jeff the truth about his son that night before she died. Susan arrives at the hospital and her and Alan exchange glances across the room. Alan approaches Susan and he apologises that he has to be there with Monica. She understands but admits that she would prefer that he was with her. He tells Susan that he needs her. Steve delivers the eulogy.

3/18 Alan calls Susan, concerned he has heard she is sick (she missed exercise class). Susan thinks she has the flu. Alan is jumpy when Monica walks in just after he has hung up. Monica notices the change in Alan and wonders what has happened to the somber and serious Alan that used to live there. Alan rattles off excuses for his happiness and questions why shouldn’t he be happy. He mentions what a bright boy Alan Jr is and how much he has added to Alan’s life. He continues raving about how much he enjoys working at the clinic. She isn’t buying these reasons about his total change in him. He tries to change the subject by asking her how she is doing and what is going on in her life? He geniunely wants her to be happy.

Alan checks out Susan, and tells her she doesn’t have a fever. She says maybe she is just tired. He offers to make her breakfast but she isn’t really hungry. He jokes about his lack of culinary skills. He is sorry he has to go into work today though she says it is just as well as she is so tired. He orders her to stay in bed all day. Susan asks if Monica is suspicious of his excuses when he comes over to see her. She doesn't want to raise Monica's suspicions and warns him to be careful. She simply couldn’t handle it if Alan lost his son because of his relationship with her. They continue kissing as he laments how hard she is making it for him to leave.

Monica arrives at GH and talks to nurse Bobbie. She asks if Alan is in his office and Bobbie reports Alan hasn’t arrived yet and hasn’t called in. Monica is suspicious of Alan. Gail approaches and invites Monica to coffee. Monica is abrupt and says she is just getting there and has to get to work. Gail realizes that Monica is upset and pulls her aside to ask what is going on? Monica tells her how happy, cheerful and confident Alan is and what an odd conversation they had this morning. Monica is confused and curious as he left the hospital way before she did this morning and he still hasn’t arrived. Gail observes that Monica is wondering where Alan is?

Happy Alan finally shows at the hospital and Bobbie tells Alan that Monica wants to see him. Monica approaches and questions why he is just getting there. Alan excuses that Susan has the flu so he had to go to the disco to do payroll. Amy overhears and pipes up that she didn’t see him there that morning as Monica stares daggers at him, he makes excuses for missing seeing her.

Alan and Susan play flirty games on the phone. She then calls and makes a doctor appointment at GH.

3/19 Rick and Monica run into each other at the nurse’s station. They go to lunch together, and discuss him being single now. Monica wonders whether Rick is jealous over Leslie’s buddy relationship with Tony Castle. She bemoans Alan's mental state and admits that he seems very happy with their separate bedrooms. She declares that Alan Jr. is making the arrangement somehow bearable, but she still wants a divorce and custody of her son. She says that now there is no more love between her and Alan that there is no more anger or jealousy.

She comments on how happy Alan is and Rick observes how worried they were about Leslie and Alan once upon a time and now they are both happy without them, as they talk about the past. Monica tells him that it no longer hurts that he broke things off with her. She is surprised that Leslie can work side by side with Rick after their split. Rick declares that he and Monica are the big losers. She refuses to be the loser for very long. He asks what she will do if she finds Alan is having an affair? She determines she will take him to court and get custody.

3/25 Alan carries a box into the disco and Kathy comments on him being there. He declares he is just helping with inventory. When they are alone, he asks how she is feeling? She says she is better today and it was probably jut a touch of the flu.

Monica is introduced to the new Dr. Drake (Rick Springfield) and takes him on a tour of the hospital. Susan arrives at the hospital for her appointment. Monica stops her and introduces her to Noah. She announces that Susan is her husband’s business partner in the Campus Disco. Susan invites him to stop by the disco, and Monica tells Susan of her intention to have to over for dinner soon. Susan does not look thrilled.

As Susan walks away, she runs into Alan as Monica watches suspiciously and Alan and Susan are awkward with each other under her watchful eye. Monica then introduces Alan to Noah. Susan’s doctor tells her that her test results will be in soon and to meet him in his office. Next Monica takes Noah to the cafeteria. As Susan is leaving, she runs into Alan again. He looks concerned and asks why she is there? She reminds him this isn’t really the place for this conversation and they arrange to meet at her place that evening. Monica arrives at the Nurse’s Station as Susan is leaving. After Susan has left, Monica tells Alan that she has invited the new doctor over for dinner that night. Alan declares he has a previous engagement for a business dinner with Edward. Monica snarks why wasn’t she invited? He says because they felt their discussion would be over her head!

Alan calls Edward and tells him that he used Edward for a cover for a business dinner with him. Alan offers to meet him later for a drink and he will explain everything. Edward chortles with glee that Alan is a chip off the old block and seems rather proud of him for cheating and lying to his wife. Edward laughs that he didn’t think Alan had it in him.

3/26 Monica gets an unfortunate update for a patient in the ICU and has to ask Noah for a rain check on dinner. Alan arrives to meet Susan bringing her red roses. He laughs about Edward’s reaction to asking him to cover for him. He tells her that he isn’t acting like a Quartermaine at all as they are all supposed to be rogues. He tells her that being with her is the most important thing to him, this is exactly what she needed to hear from him. She tells him that she has something very important to tell him. She suggests that he open the bottle of champagne and thanks him for sending the case over. He sweet talks that is how he thinks of her, roses and champagne.

After they have kissed a bit, she comments on how special their relationship is as it is built on honesty and they don’t have to lie to each other. She admits she is scared to tell him her news, that he might not be as happy as she is. She informs him that she is pregnant with his child. He gets a sweet sentimental smile and his eyes glow as he tells her how much he loves her.

Alan promises to watch over her like a hawk. He doesn’t want her to drink, though she tells him half a glass of champagne isn’t a big deal. He also wants her to get exercise. She is still nervous and asks him how he really feels? He declares it is wonder, excitement, great joy, and fear for what she will have to go through. He is thrilled, but only wants to have the baby if she is sure and she wants it. He promises to love and protect her and never let anything hurt her. They promise each other a perfect life.

Monica asks the nurse’s station to reach Alan at the Floating Rib where he is supposed to be having dinner with Edward. She reaches Edward and he covers for Alan and says he is running late. Monica shares that her patient has stabilised and she will be joining them for dinner. She admonishes Edward that she should be involved in all business meetings.

Alan calls Edward and he gives him the news about Monica joining them for dinner and warns him to get over there NOW! Alan arrives in the nick of time, and is just seated before Monica arrives. She soon gets a call from the hospital, and Edward doesn’t like being in this position of covering. He warns Alan that if Monica catches him that there will be hell to pay. Monica returns and tells them that she has a patient who has to go in for surgery and she will be spending the night at GH.

Alan immediately leaves and returns to Susan. He promises he won’t leave her like that very often. She is mollified with the news that he can stay all night as Monica’s patient needs emergency surgery. He tells her again how much he loves her. He does tell her that he wants to protect her and Monica could be a dangerous enemy if she finds out about them. Alan is sad that she has to settle for anything, but he can’t risk losing Alan Jr. She suggests that she leave town to have the baby. He doesn’t want her to leave or worry about anything.

3/27 The next morning, Susan and Alan are kissing. She is so glad that he was able to stay over. He still can’t believe she is carrying his child, he promises her that she isn’t just a fling. She suggests that she is pregnant, that she fell in love with a man and is going to settle down and raise his child. Alan says that won’t work as soon as Monica learns she is pregnant that she will be suspicious given how much Alan and Susan see each other because of the disco. Alan tells her that he covered by calling Monica twice and left messages checking in on her.

At the hospital, Monica’s exhausted after an all nighter. Bobbie gives Monica the messages that her husband called a couple of times to check in with her. Alan arrives at the hospital and greets Monica. He is headed to his office. She and Alan have a staring contest. Monica questions the intensity of his staring at her. He denies that he was staring when she confronts him. Alan calls Susan and she questions whether he should be calling from the pay phone? He tells her it is better than the house phone where someone could pick up the extension. Monica and Gail come upon him and she questions why he is using a pay phone. He claims he was just talking to Alex. After Alan leaves, Monica tells Gail that she is onto Alan.

4/1? When Alan arrives home, Alex warns him that Monica gave her the third degree about what they were discussing on the phone this morning. Alan looks nervous and Alex assures him that she covered for him, but is obviously curious why he lied to his wife about being on the phone with her when no such call took place. Alan plays with his telescope.

4/23 First few minutes glitchy as cable is in and out. Susan gets flowers from "Arnold." When Alan arrives, he questions who sent the flowers and warns her that he can be very jealous (though his smile takes the sting out of his words). She tells Alan that she sent herself the flowers from her admirer.

Kathy tells Monica about her new car, a gift from Alan as thanks for taking care of his son. Kathy is sure the car is Monica’s idea and thanks her as well. Monica claims she mentioned it to Alan yesterday but didn’t expect him to do it so quickly. After Kathy has left, Monica tells Gail that she thinks Alan has a guilty conscience. Monica worries that Alan will steal her ally. Gail is saddened that Alan Jr. leaves in a home with two parents who despise each other.

Monica says as soon as she gets dirt on Alan, she will take her son and get out of that house. She quarrels with Gail as Gail defends that Monica doesn’t have any proof Alan is having an affair. Monica believes that Alan is trying to get Kathy on his side, and she believes that Kathy will be loyal to her. Gail accuses that she is going to use that girl to set up Alan. Gail tells her she is feeling sicker by the moment as Monica continues to talk.

Later at the disco, Alan tells Susan that he wants to protect her financially. Alan wants to change his will. He has already taken care of Monica and Alan Jr. but he plans on changing his will to insure that he provides for her. Susan worries what if Monica finds out. He says she would only know if he dies and then it wouldn’t matter. She worries that it is too risky. He plans to retain Joe's services to do it. Alan points out that the information would be privileged.

Kathy arrives and watches as Alan and Susan are talking privately. Kathy shows her gratitude to Alan and digs for information. She points out the beautiful flowers that arrived for Susan. Alan claims that they are probably from Arnold, the guy that she has been dating and he is crazy about Susan. They sneak over to read the card and Alan plays up being right about her admirer. Kathy calls and reports back to Monica about the flowers from Arnold. She tells Monica that she thinks she might be wrong about Alan and Susan, as Alan arrives home.

Monica tells Alan that she would like to discuss their financial situation. She is concerned with the risks Edward has taken. Alex returns and Alan demands an accounting especially where his personal estate is concerned. He warns her he wants to make sure that the woman and her child that he adores are protected, as Monica stares at him in shock.

4/28 Monica and Alan meet up at The Floating Rib and tells him she is concerned about their finances and they can’t discuss this at the house. She warns him that Alex and Edward are risking their entire fortune. He is shocked that she thinks Edward is involved in a scheme to defraud them. Monica suggests that he go over to the ELQ offices tonight and find out exactly what is going on. She warns him that Edward may not know what Alex is up to. Alan hesitates and Monica questions if Alex has something on him?

Monica tells him that she thinks Alex should be stopped. Alan and Monica have a civil conversation. He tells her that they often work late at ELQ. Monica suggests they have dinner. He tells her if it is possible, he will do it tonight. He doesn’t want to see his personal fortune at risk due to Alex. She agrees and warns him that it is her money too. He seems proud that she is willing to fight for their money, and says she is a true Quartermaine even if she is his wife in name only. She sternly warns him not to bring that up, not now when they are being civil. They seem to enjoy their dinner together and both lament not enjoying being at the house due to Alex’s chatter, and even Lila’s over the art auction. Leslie and Tony Castle enter and Leslie is happy to introduce the dashing newcomer to Alan and Monica. He realizes that Monica is jealous of Lesley's life.

4/29 In the morning, Alan calls Susan and they sweet talk each other. She mentions feeling pregnant and needing to see a doctor. He tells her he will be right over and he has a great cover story they can use and he will tell her when he arrives. After he hangs up, Alex smugly comes out of the living room and warns him that he should really be more careful. She warns him that she overheard his sweet little conversation with his little playmate. He tells her not to threaten him.

She says the Q bloodline is running true, him getting his playmate pregnant. She jokes about him getting caught with his hands in the cookie jar. He warns her that she is NOT his sister and does not have Tracy’s advantages. He wants her to disclose all of the details of what she is up to with the Q fortune or she will be tossed out. She offers him a deal, that he tells her exactly how he is going to handle Susan’s delicate situation and she will then tell him all about the Q fortune and not a second before.

He warns her not to ever blackmail him or he will destroy her and she is treading on a very thin line. She points out that she has caught him and he doesn’t know what to do about it. She can’t believe she didn’t put the clues together sooner, after all a beautiful woman like Susan not dating anyone else. She laughs about Alan’s ridiculous excuses of going to check the books at a disco, he wouldn’t know the difference between a credit or a debit. He promises to order a full audit and she warns him to reconsider that decision. If he doesn’t call that plan off, she will tell Monica all about Susan Moore. She continues if he doesn’t believe her, then just try and call her bluff. Alan leaves slamming the door behind him as Monica comes down the stairs. She questions whether he has searched ELQ to find out what financial mess they are in. He claims he wasn’t able to as Edward and Alex worked late last night. Monica wants him to have auditors to come in.

Next, Monica joins Alex in the living room for coffee. Monica questions about her and Alan arguing so early this morning. Monica admits to being concerned about their financial situation, and Alan believes they are divesting too much and putting all of their financial eggs in one basket. She observes that the risks are making Alan quite unhappy. Alex counters that she believes Alan’s temperament has more to do with the status of her marriage.

Alan and Susan snuggle as he tells her again how happy she makes him. He declares he is just going to walk out the door anytime he wants and he isn’t giving anyone any excuses any longer. He has come to terms with himself and what he wants out of life. He says he has no shame, no regrets of his relationship with Susan that Monica severed their bond when she slept with Rick. Alan tells Susan about his new cover story. He will be investigating the ELQ financial matters and it will involve traveling to NY and Europe. He rented an apartment for her in NY. He realizes it isn’t safe for her to have the baby in Port Charles. He promises he will be with her every second that he can, while he is investigating the financial affairs. He warns her that she isn’t safe in PC as Alex is a threat.

At the hospital, Alan tells Monica that he left early this morning to place a call to Europe putting their plan into action. He had to have privacy for the call so Alex wouldn’t get wind of what he is up to. He promises Monica that he will find out if even a penny is out of place. Monica is glad to hear it but tells him to be prepared that Alex will fight dirty if he goes to war against her.

5/1 Alan confronts Alex over invoices without vendor’s names. He accuses that if she was doing business with reputable vendors that she wouldn’t have to hide their names. She assures him that the profits will be rolling in very soon. He continues his interrogation asking where are the profits coming from? What is Luke Spencer doing for her? She claims it is all very hush hush. He demands to know about the invoices for spy equipment? When he gets even more serious and more demanding about getting answers, Alex responds with threats of her own. She asks what if she would tell Monica to make the same demands of Alan about Susan Moore being pregnant with his child? Alan warns her not to try to blackmail him as he won’t back down no matter how much she threatens him.

At a Kelly’s party to celebrate Joe passing the bar, Alan tells Susan that Alex knows she is pregnant and is threatening to tell Monica, in what Alan calls “polite blackmail”. She asks what she can do? Alan tells her it just makes him love her more. At the same party, Gail asks Monica if she is being honest with herself about her feelings about Alan.

5/6 Alan fills Monica in on the Jamaica plant plot. He plans to confront Alex and tells Monica that he is off to confront Alex. Monica then confides in Gail and she is sure Alan will slip up on some front. She does comment on how charming Alan has been recently, but no it hasn’t changed her heart. She will keep watching him closely due to her suspecting Alan is having an affair with Susan.

When Alan arrives at ELQ, he finds a stash of $50k on her desk. He demands answers why she is dealing with so much cash. He doesn’t understand why she isn’t writing checks like a legitimate business would do to keep track of expenses. She is infuriated that he is treating her like a child and she won’t have it. He warns her that he wants answers and he wants them now. Alex calls Alan's bluff and counters that if he doesn’t stay out of her office, she will have the locks changed and then will take him to court. He determines that she is bluffing as she would never go to court and have to account for what she has been up to. He has proof that she is mishandling his money and shows her an invoice about security in Jamaica and why would that be important to ELQ.

She informs him that her and Edward have plans in Jamaica and she is not at liberty to discuss it due to his stupid curiosity. He realizes she is lying now and he knows there is no project in Jamaica. She promises when her plans are realised that they will all enjoy very big profits. He insists that she is going to tell him about Jamaica and about what Luke is doing for ELQ. Alex warns him again that she will use whatever she has to use to get what she wants. She also points out that Edward is up to his neck in this.

Meanwhile at GH, she wonders where Alan is as he was going to pick her up for the art auction. Alex picks up the phone determined to call Alan’s bluff. She calls GH and asks for Monica, when she gets on the line, Alan grabs the phone from her and tells Monica he is running late.

5/7 Alan fills Susan in on Alex’s continued threats to tell Monica about Susan’s pregnancy if he persists in pursuing his demands to know what Alex is doing at ELQ. He tells her that Alex went so far as to call Monica, though Alan covered it up though he admits that he wasn’t too smooth. She shares that she noticed Monica staring at them together at Joe’s party. Susan worries that she didn’t want to do anything to risk his custody of his son and no look at this mess. Monica has enough ammunition to destroy him. He shares that he is in a stalemate with Alex, for now. He asks her not to worry about it, that he will handle Alex. He is concerned how all of these business dealings are affecting his bank account so he can take care of her and her baby. So much of his money is tied up in their European holdings and Alex has control over that.

5/8 Alan goes to the hospital to pick up Monica for the auction.  He tells her about finding an envelope with $50,000 in it and this furthers his growing concerns with Alex’s financial misdealing. Monica wonders why Alan doesn’t confront Alex? When he says he is going to give Alex more time, Monica is adamantly against it. She asks if it is likely that Alex has some type of ammunition against Alan. He questions what could Alex possibly have on him? Noah interrupts before Monica can respond.

5/11 Alan and Monica arrive at the auction which soon gets underway. Edward and Alex conspire, and Alan and Monica interrupt. Monica comments to Alan that Alex is jumpy as a cat. He discourages her from discussing their ELQ concerns in such a public place. 5/12 Alan calls Susan to check in with her when she didn’t show up at the auction. She just didn’t want to deal with seeing Alex, now that she knows about her pregnancy. He tells her that he and Alex have agreed to stay out of each other’s business, for now. He sneaks off to see Susan. As soon as he leaves, Monica comes down the stairs and follows him outside and watches him leave.

Alan passionately kisses Susan when he arrives, after all first things first. He walked around the bay and is freezing cold. He tells her that once he is with her, he doesn’t have any problems. He has problems with Monica but has more problems with Alex and how she could hurt what they have together. He is worried about the Quartermaine money and being able to provide for her. He promises her that he is going to take care of her though she continues to tell him that she doesn’t need him to do that. He tells her how much he wishes he could marry her before their baby is born. She reminds him that if he tried to divorce Monica that he could lose his son and she isn’t going to let him do that. He just needs time to deal with Monica and to take care of her financial security. She tells him that she is very content with how things are and doesn’t need him to deal with Monica.

He informs her that he has to deal with Monica is she is a very clever woman and can be very vindictive and she would do anything to hurt him and to hurt Susan. Monica could cause a scandal, Susan doesn’t care about that and says let her. Alan refuses to allow this as it would hurt Susan and draws her in for more kisses.

Laura calls Edward worried about Luke’s whereabouts, as Alan listens in. Later he overhears Edward confiding to Alex that he is worried that Luke sold them out. Alan demands to know what is going on. Alex tries to leave but Alan stops her and tells Edward that Alex is blackmailing him about his private life on the side, but doesn’t go into the “sordid” details of his affair. He asks Edward to put Alex in her place. He questions if Alex has been using her knowledge of Alan’s affair to threaten him. It is obvious that Edward is furious with her for threatening Alan, and warns her this is not how the Quartermaine family operates.

He continues that he knows about the $50k they are paying and wants to be filled in. Edward tells him about the Ice Princess statue and how Alex painted it black to disguise it. Alex informs him that it is the biggest diamond in the world, and admits the diamond did cost a great deal of money. Edward declares they are certain that Luke has the diamond and once Luke recovers it, they will make a great deal of money. Edward suggests Alan not inform Monica and he agrees. She tells him about the competitors who are also after the diamond and they were responsible for ransacking the house the night of the party.

5/20 Alan arrives home and tells Edward that he has to go out of town on business. Alex snarks, “Business?” Alex wishes him a “torrid” evening as she heads upstairs. Alan calls Susan and tells him that he is on his way and how much he loves her.

When Alan gets off the phone, Edward questions if he is off to see his mistress again and he thought he had gotten through to Alan last night about continuing to see her. Alan insists that he is going to see her. Edward says he did the right thing by not telling Monica the truth but to continue to see Susan is very dangerous. Alan promises to be careful. Edward warns him that Monica is no longer sitting back and from here on, she will be hot on his tail!

Monica reports to Gail that she thinks Alan was going to tell her last night but then he clamed up and she thinks Edward got to him. Monica declares that she is going to hire a PI!

Over at Susan’s, Alan tells her how smug and gloating Monica was last night when she thought he was going to tell her the truth. Susan admits she was afraid if he did tell Monica everything that she would never see him again. He assures her that would never happen. He tells her that Edward pointed out if he tries to negotiate with Monica that he would lose everything, or if he tries to ask for a divorce that the court would give her everything.

He is sure Monica will hire a detective if she hasn’t already. Susan realizes this means he has to leave now. She admits she feels like she is losing him a little more every day. He tells her that he can’t even call her as they could have the line tapped. He declares that Monica is an evil woman who is out to destroy them and he states that is not going to happen. (This from the man who tried to kill her twice! Once blowing up the seaside cottage, and then trying to drop the Q roof on her! He tells her that they love each other and Monica can never take that away from them and urges her to be strong. He leans in to kiss her passionately.

5/30 Alan and Susan are enjoying dinner together as he waits on her and encourages her to drink her milk. She is so happy that she came up with a way to protect him with her fictitious lover who is about to become more real. The more she brings “Arnold” to life, the more secure their secret relationship becomes. She shows Alan that Arnold smokes an aromatic pipe and shows him the stash. She then informs him that she is having her aunt Alice over today and will tell her about her affair with Arnold and that he is the father of their baby. She has to tell her now as she is starting to show. He is worried about Monica as Susan is going to have to come up with proof, such as a flesh and blood Arnold Wellington. He is sure that Monica is going to want to meet him

Kathy tells Monica that she looked up Arnold Wellington but isn’t able to locate a phone number for him. Monica comments on Susan moving from her apartment and asks if Cathy knows where she is living now? Kathy doesn’t but says she is very resourceful growing up in an orphanage. Kathy points out that when Susan goes home at night that it would be easy for Kathy to find out where home is, that Monica doesn’t have to hire an investigator for that!

Susan tells Alice about her new boyfriend Arnold Wellington. She tells her that he is married and she is pregnant by “Arnold”. Alice tries to discourage her from continuing being involved with a married man but Susan tells Alice that she is pregnant with Arnold’s baby and how much she loves him.

Kathy comes up with an idea to call the disco and pretend to be Wyndham’s calling to deliver a house warming present but they don’t have her address. All too soon they inform her that she is at 321 Harbor. Monica observes that is so close you could just about walk over there. They look out Alan’s telescope to focus in on nearby cottages, as he walks in and asks what they are doing? Monica guiltily jumps as Kathy gives a cover story about a rowing team practicing but they must have finished for the day.

6/1 Edward is restlessly pacing back and forth as Alan and Monica ask him what he is upset about. He claims that he is bothered that Lila went out to the Ladies Auxillary meeting. They point out they had to calculate how much the auction raised for GH. Edward grouches his way out of the room and up the stairs. Monica and Alan discuss Edward’s edginess. Monica asks Alan if he thinks Luke took the statue and he is pretty sure she did.

Alan is back over at Susan’s and she tells him that her plan is working as Alice believed everything and is most likely spreading it all over town that Susan is pregnant. Alan wishes there was some other way. She doesn’t want to discuss it as their time together is too precious to waste going over this again. He tells her he loves her and kisses her. She tells him she can’t wait to have their baby. He just wishes he could be by her side and that there was some way…. She points out that many single women have babies on their own but he doesn’t want her to have to do that. She will just put her own name on the birth certificate. Alan plans on telling his “son” about how much he loves Susan. She laughs that he is so sure the baby is a boy.

Now it is Monica’s turn to pace as Edward points that out. She is bothered by Alan suddenly going on long walks every evening. He declares that it is good exercise. She points out that he has always gotten his exercise at the club. Edward says that he is probably just watching his waistline. She asks Edward if Alan is having an affair. He points out that she has been in this family long enough to know that even if Alan was, that Edward would never tell her as it is none of her damn business. He continues that it is no longer any of her business either, since she is now locking her bedroom door against her husband. He is curious why Alan’s not being there bothers her so much?

6/2 Monica is at the nurse’s station and is surprised to see Susan arrive and take the elevator upstairs to GYN. She calls the office and asks to be paged when Susan finishes her appointment so they are meeting for coffee. Monica and Susan are having coffee in the cafeteria and Monica tells her she wanted to talk to her about inviting her to a dinner party. Monica comments on the success of the disco and Susan raves how helpful Alan has been. Monica is sure he has been. She stares at her necklace and Susan tells her that her new boyfriend bought it for her. Monica invites Susan to bring her new boyfriend. Monica asks for Arnolds address, though Susan stalls by saying they don’t have to be that formal, she will just bring him with her.

6/11 Monica and Kathy show up at ELQ. Monica wants to know if there is a problem, Laura isn’t at her desk as the phones start ringing. Monica ask Kathy to help out and she jumps in and starts answering the phones ringing off the hook. Monica recommends Edward hire Kathy as a receptionist since Laura is going to be away for awhile. She hands him a pile of messages and Monica suggests that she fill in for a couple of days. He reluctantly agrees.

Next, Monica and Kathy stop in at Kelly’s. Joe invites them to join him and Heather as they are off to the disco. Monica agrees they will grab a drink at Kelly’s and then meet him over there. When they are alone, Monica suggests that she keep her eyes and ears open. She is very eager to be supportive of her new job and she will help her with any questions she may have or anything she may not understand.

Rick and Leslie are sitting across from them discussing their future, as Monica listens in.

6/12 At the disco, Susan asks Alan if he can come over later. He doesn’t dare as Monica is watching him like a hawk and it is too risky. She is a very determined woman! Amy stops by their table and raves about the radiant glow that Susan has. After she dances away, Susan worries that she won’t be able to hide her pregnancy. Next, Monica and Kathy arrive at the disco. Monica spots Susan and Alan sitting together at a table. Monica tells Alan that she is hopeful to meet Susan’s new beau. He says Arnold isn’t there, that he and Susan were talking business.

After Kathy leaves the table, Monica questions Alan about why he is hanging around the disco so much. She makes continually barbs about Susan having so much trouble with the books as it is so dark in here. Alana then claims he stopped off for a drink. It is obvious Monica doesn’t believe a word he says. She gloats about Kathy working at ELQ, and he thinks she is planting Kathy there as a spy and he thinks it is a mistake. Alan leaves to go get another drink and finishing going over the books with Susan and Monica smirks.

Alan joins Susan at the bar and tells her that Monica doesn’t have any proof, if she did she would have already blown the whistle. She wants to make them nervous, to get them to slip up, and get some evidence she can put her claws into. Susan shakily tells him that she is scared. He wants her to look at him, she says she can’t as Monica will know by the way she looks at him. He no longer cares. He tells Susan that this is no way to live.

She points out that this is for Alan Jr. Kathy asks Alan for a ride home since Monica is ready to leave. Alan approaches Monica and tells her that he will give Kathy a ride home since he will be here awhile longer going over the books. He returns to Susan and tells her that he has made a decision. He is going to be there when she has the baby and he is going to get rid of all of this pressure on them. He is going to tell Monica everything!

Dvd #2B 6/15 He shares that Monica haunts their every moment together and it ends tonight! She worries that he is making a mistake, he promises to end this tonight! Edward makes a snarky sound when she reports that Alan is at the disco going over the books with Susan. Monica fishes for information from Edward about Alan’s extracurricular activities. Alan returns home and tells Monica that he wants to talk to her, and it can’t wait until morning. He is very troubled by something that is going on his life and he wants to tell her about it. She says she will go upstairs and come back when he is alone. Once she does, Edward demands to know what he is up to? Alan shares that he is going to divorce Monica and he will negotiate a settlement.

Edward tells him not to, that Quartermaines have always had their secrets and why can’t Alan just keep his a secret like men in the family have always done. He advises that Alan can have his mistress, he just has to put her aside for a little bit and wait Monica out. He is sure that Monica will make the first move, and he is sure she will ask for a divorce and then Alan can bring his mistress out of hiding. He points out look at her mess with Rick Webber. He admonishes Alan that the woman is married is a tramp!

Monica comes downstairs as Edward goes up to bed. Alan pretends to be concerned that Kathy isn’t happy with her car. He asks her to think about doing something sportier, or perhaps a flashier color. Alan calls Susan at the disco and says that he didn’t tell Monica. He tells her that Edward convinced him the timing isn’t right as it would give Monica the upper hand and she would be merciless in her demands. He hopes she understands as he can’t allow Monica to turn their son into a pawn. Susan asks if things have to remain the same?

He reluctantly says yes for now they will have to. She just wants peace and asks him whatever happens to know how much he means to her. He doesn’t like the sound of her voice, and asks what is wrong. She claims she is just tired and off to bed and asks him not to come over as she is tired. He tells her that he loves her but is obviously worried he has pushed her too far. As Alan sits somberly staring into the night, Edward joins him to ask if Alan told her? He is relieved when Alan says no. Edward continues to advise him to stay away from that woman for awhile, he is sure Monica’s next move will be to get proof by hiring a PI. Edward reminds Alan that he will be followed every second and to cover his tracks. He knows that if Monica gets proof she will grind him into dust. Edward continues that Monica is going to be stewing over this and she will be very dangerous.

6/18 Alan returns home and informs Edward he is only there to have a drink and then he has to go out on business as Alex is snarky and suggests that he have a “torrid” evening. After Alex goes upstairs, Edward is irate that Alan is continuing to see “this woman”. Edward thought he got through to Alan last night about how dangerous Monica is going to be and continues to strongly advise Alan to stay away from Susan.

Monica tells Gail that she was sure that Alan was going to tell her everything last night when they got home, but she is sure Edward got to Alan and talked him out of it. She tells Gail she is going to hire a Private Investigator.

Alan tells Susan that he wishes he could have told Monica and hoped she would understand. Susan asks what changed his mind? He says that Edward got through to him about how dangerous it would be to give Monica ammunition against him. He shares that Edward’s opinion is that if Alan asks for a divorce, the court will give her everything.

Edward’s idea is to give Monica enough rope that she could hang herself, they just have to be careful they don’t hang themselves in the process. He is pretty sure she has already hired a PI. She worries that she is losing him a little bit more each day. He reassures her that is never going to happen. He tells her that he can’t even call her as they could have the line tapped. He warns her that Monica is an evil and determined woman and asks Susan to be strong as he leans in and kisses her.

6/26 Alan warns Susan that Kathy is Monica’s eyes and ears and she doesn’t need a PI with Kathy around. Monica hires a Private Investigator, Corrigan, to spy on Alan and Susan. Susan suggests to Alan she should leave town for a while. He says absolutely no, he won’t hear of it! Alan determines that he is going to have her and Alan Jr, and he will beat Monica at her own game. He leans over and kisses her on the cheek just as Kathy walks up, and Susan stares daggers at him for the risk he is taking.

7/1 Edward pays Monica a complement about the dinner menus. Alan asks Edward about Alex’s earlier good mood. Edward sits down watch the evening’s fireworks and asks who is going to start the excuses for why they have to leave tonight? They both determine they are going to enjoy a quiet evening at home (let the games begin). They ask Edward about the Quartermaine’s financial situation and he is positive about their turn around. They aren’t too encouraged when they release the source of this optimism is Alex. When Lila returns home, they play cards together.

Alan sneaks a quiet moment to call Susan as he can’t stand not hearing the sound of her voice. Monica’s PI is just over Susan’s shoulder listening in. He warns her that Monica has been dropping PI hints all week. After Susan hangs up, Corrigan approaches her and presents himself as scouting disco locations and they are interested in her location for a sizeable fee of course. She says she would have to talk it over with her partner first. He comments on her now obvious pregnancy. He later calls to report in to Monica that his undercover work has begun. She warns the PI that both Susan and Alan are the watch for anyone like a detective. He promises that he will soon be able to get her the evidence for the divorce she wants.

7/6 4th of July. Alex has been out all night looking for Duvall she comes home looking exhausted. Snarky Monica comes downstairs and they argue. Lila is upset that the pate is horrible. Meanwhile, Alan arrives at the Disco’s office after receiving a message from Susan to meet her there. But all he finds is a note from Susan telling him that she has left him. He is stunned and sits down shakily on the desk as he stares at the letter.

7/14 Corrigan is back at the disco asking where Susan is at tonight? He calls Monica to report in to Monica that Susan took a cab to the disco and then left. Monica suggests he check the cottage again. He determines he is going to hang around the disco as Alan is there. Rick bursts into the disco office and apologises to Alan who is still looking shell shocked. He asks Alan if he can use the phone. Alan stumbles home, crumbles up the letter from Susan as he remembers the words she wrote about her reasons for leaving him. She promises to raise their baby until they can be reunited. He sadly looks through the telescope as snarky Monica enters questioning him. She asks what no last minute business meetings? Why was she called away as Alan looks at her stunned at how close to the truth she hit.

Later, Corrigan calls Monica to tell him that Alan has hired a P.I. named Thomlinson to find Susan.

8/11 Leslie shares her fears with Alan and he comforts her. She asks if he will cover for her at the clinic while her and Rick head to Washington DC to try to find Laura. He tells her that he may have to go to NYC on business. Then he suddenly changes his mind and offers to cover for her for a couple of days.

She fills him in on trying to get information about Laura’s whereabouts but tells him she can’t tell him much other than Laura has gotten herself mixed up with unbelievably dangerous international intrigue. She continues that Alex, Robert, Tony Castle are all involved with the diamond sculpture thing.

He asks what Leslie wants from him? She tells him she needs information about what Alex has been up to? She is trying to track Alex down and asks him to try to get information about where Alex is from him. He tells her that he doesn’t know anything about the ELQ end of the business. Leslie doesn’t believe Alan doesn’t have any information about Alex. She asks him to talk to Edward and convince him that she is only interested in where Laura is. She begs Alan to find out whatever he can from Edward.

Afterwards, Rick tells Monica that he doesn’t like the sound of Edward’s cough. Rick tells her that he is glad they can work together without any personal confrontations. He tells her that he is very worried about Alan Jr. with his history of heart surgery that he could be susceptible to sudden extreme changes in the weather. Rick tells Edward that he wants to check Edward into the hospital due to his rising temperature and his cough.

9/3 Edward calls Alan from the hospital where he is a patient to complain. Alan teases him that he is just bored. Alan and Monica worry about Edward’s high blood pressure. Monica questions why Alan is so upset and asks if something else is going on in Alan’s personal life. He claims he is just worried about his father though he warns her they are too wicked to die young. He questions what kind of life would she have if he did die, with no Alan and no Rick.

At the hospital, Alan and Monica argue about his risk due to the weather and her not spending enough time at home with him. Edward is brought back into his room in the midst of their snarking. Edward tells them they are stuck with each other for good and he wants to start planning to make him some more grandchildren.  He observes that Alan Jr is a very frail little boy, hinting that he wants them to make another legitimate grandchild. Monica is irate and declares she would rather rot in hell than have another child with Alan. After she storms out, Alan asks what all of that was about? Edward claims he is just feeling his age. The idea of having more grandchildren around the house is comforting. Alan warns him that he loves Susan and will not be having anymore children with Monica.

9/8 The blizzard is closing down roads during what the news report calls “The Storm of the Century”. Alan calls Monica and tells her that he is bringing the baby to the hospital. She is shocked but he tells her that he had to give their baby mouth to mouth just to keep him breathing and he will drive the baby in himself. Monica is frantic while waiting for Alan to arrive.

Rick admits Alan Jr to the hospital after Alan brings the baby in because he is having trouble breathing. Alan stops in to visit Edward and is encouraged to see his health is improving. Alan tells Edward that Alan Jr has been admitted to the hospital. Rick, Monica and Steve watch over the baby as she fusses at them. Steve tells her that she is just the mother and not the baby’s doctor. Alan walks in to overhear her telling Rick that she trusts him with her baby’s life, her baby is her life. After his examination, Rick tells them the baby’s fever is up to 103 degrees. He is putting the baby on antibiotics and he is hoping that will resolve this so he doesn’t have to have surgery. Rick says they should know within 24 hours.

9/9 Alan and Monica wait by Alan Jr’s hospital bedside, worried for their son and being very sweet and kind to each other as they worry. Rick comes in but tells them it is too early to know if the baby will respond to the treatment. A frantic Kathy rushes up to the Nurse’s Station desperate for an update on the baby.

9/10 Alan and Monica continue to watch over Alan Jr at GH as Monica laments that there is no change. Monica just hopes for a change for the better, but she doesn’t see any improvement in his congestion. She tells him that she has had a lot of time while waiting by the baby’s bedside. She asks him if he has ever thought about why their marriage failed? She asks if he blames her? He says no that he doesn’t believe their marriage has completely failed.

He asks her to just look at their beautiful baby that they made together. She wants him to tell her what he thinks they have had together? He tells her that he admires her, respects her, she is incredibly charming, a brilliant doctor, and an incredible mother. She thinks he may actually believe all that but he didn’t say the one thing that would give her hope for their future, he didn’t say that he loved her. He doesn’t think they should be talking about their relationship while their child is sick. She tells him that there is only one thing that has any meaning right now, their son’s life.

9/11 Alan Jr takes a turn for the worse as Rick tries desperately to get him some air as the worried parents look on. The crisis is over as he starts to breath again with no heart or brain damage. Alan and Monica are beyond relieved.

9/14 As Alan is getting off the elevator, Amy complains to Jesse about Mrs. Grant leaving town for NY in the middle of a blizzard. Later, Alan gets a call from his PI in NY and he gets chocked up when he learns that Susan just gave birth to a baby boy.

9/15 Steve calls an emergency staff meeting as GH is in a hectic state. He informs them that the temperature has dropped again and Dan warms that it could continue to drop. They discuss them going out in teams to help people in the community who can’t get to the hospital. Monica says she is ready to be back on duty now that Alan Jr is better. Monica joins Rick in providing services in the community and bring Mike and his grandmother into Kelly’s for warmth.

9/17 Alan and Monica are worried about Alan Jr while he is in surgery. Georgia reports to Alan that he had a long distance phone call from a woman from NYC but the phone went dead before she could take a message. Alan calls Susan at the hospital in NY. She is relieved to hear from him and tells him she got disconnected when she tried to call. He asks how the baby is? She tells him everything is fine and the baby is beautiful. He warns her there is a severe storm that they think could move to NYC. He tells her that she can’t get back to PC. He wants her to take the baby and go south to FL and get out of NY. She tells him that she isn’t going to run any longer and the baby isn’t a Quartermaine but is just her baby. Allce enters and Susan realizes she has overheard who the baby’s father really is.

Monica and Audrey talk in the cafeteria. Monica can’t believe Mikkos’ scheme. Alan joins them and tells Monica that the baby is still in surgery. She frets that it has gone on so long, while he reminds her that it is a complicated surgery. Alan says all they can do is pray for the safety of their son and all the people of Port Charles.

9/18 Rick meets with Alan and Monica after surgery and updates them that his vital signs are stable but he suffered damaged to his heart. Rick says he can’t promise them that the baby will completely recover. They blame the weather for making his condition worse. Rick warns them that the hospital could lose power tonight and the baby is at risk if that happens as they are all subject to the whims of Mikkos Cassidine.

They visit their baby in recovery as he lay motionless. Alan tries to provide Monica comfort that they will stay with him every moment. He whispers that if the heat fails they will hold him and pile blankets over him to keep him warm. Monica frets when will the Cassidines stop this insanity.

Alan visits Edward to update him and tell him that Alan Jr is out of surgery and is in recovery. Edward gloats that is his grandson, a Quartermaine through and through. Alan warns Edward that the baby still hasn’t recovered nor is he expected to recover from the damage to his heart. Alan sobs with grief and worry into his father’s arms. Edward assures him that Alan Jr will grow up to be a fine tells him about Alan Jr’s condition and tells him that his grandson may still die.

9/22 Corrigan leaves an urgent message at the nurse’s station for Monica that he needs to see her now. Helpful Amy gives Alan the message and heads to the cafeteria to confront Corrigan. Alan tells Corrigan that he is going to be closing the disco for good. Alan is on to Monica's PI Corrigan. Corrigan tells Monica that Susan gave birth to a baby boy. Rick tells a relieved Leslie that he talked to Laura and she is okay, as Monica approaches the Nurse’s Station and overhears Rick telling Leslie how much he loves her.

When Monica asks for her messages, Amy informs Alan has already picked them up. Monica heads straight for the cafeteria where Alan tells her that he is closing the disco. After Alan leaves, Corrigan admits that he really blew it for her. He shows her the message that he left for her about Susan giving birth to Alan’s baby. A furious Monica confronts Amy for giving Alan her private messages.

9/23 Monica and Alan have dinner together at The Floating Rib when the restaurant stays open to take care of the over worked staff. Alan tells Monica that he knows Corrigan is the PI that he hired. She asks if he enjoyed having her and Rick followed. She admits she enjoyed getting the evidence against him. He asks how dare she after her affair with Rick. She laughs at him but points out that at least she didn’t try to kill anyone. She only wanted to prove his affair with Susan. He smugly reminds her that her trying to pass off his son as Rick Webber’s was worse than him ever trying to kill her. She asks how long has he been sleeping with Susan? He admits that he loves Susan and he wants to marry her.

Monica tells him that is too bad. He wants a civil divorce but she says that isn’t going to happen as she becomes very uncivilised when the topic of her son comes up. She tells him they aren’t talking about divorce but about custody. She tells him not on his life will she ever give up custody of her son. He demands that he can prove so many things against her not to even start with him. She tells him that she knows the entire story of his affair with Susan Moore and his out of wedlock son with her. She will sink as low as she has to in order to keep her son. She promises that she will use the fact that he had an illicit affair and Jason is the proof of it. Monica laughs as the tabloids would love to get a hold of this juicy bit of gossip. She tells him to do his best to drag her name through the mud. Alan says he doesn’t want to do that as it would only hurt their son. She tells him she really doesn’t care as she will simply take her son and move to another city and change her name if she has to.

Susan and Alice discuss Alan being Jason’s father and agrees to keep Susan’s secret. Susan assures Alice that she doesn’t want anything from Alan. Alice asks if Alan loves her and Susan says yes he does. Alice questions how he can ruin her life if he loves her? Alice tells her that her baby deserves to have the last name Quartermaine. Alice calls her a bad mother for not living up to her obligation to take care of her son’s best interests.

Alan heads over to tell Edward about Monica’s threats. Alan shares that the guy he hired to run the disco is actually the PI that Monica hired. Edward promises to help Alan come up with a plan and tells him he will teach him what he learned from his own father, Edgard Quartermaine. Edward tells Alan that he has a half brother about 10 years younger. Edward continues that he was raised very quietly in Europe and Lila has known for years. There was hell to pay at the time but money can fix anything if you start spreading it around. Edward wants Alan to pay off Monica to calm her down and to Susan to keep her content. Alan insists that Susan won’t be bought and he won’t cheapen their relationship like that. Edward recommends that he enjoy all the press he is going to get about his new bouncing baby boy.

Later, Kathy bids farewell to Monica as she tells her she is moving to CA. (Kathy was originally going to be Monica's long lost daughter but the storyline was dropped during the writer's strike in 1981). Corrigan arrives and tells Monica that they have unfinished business. She disagrees as she has paid him in full. He wants to blackmail Alan but Monica has other ideas. She pays off Corrigan’s blackmail and tells him to get out of town.

9/24 Monica pays off Corrigan. Alan shows up to see Susan in the hospital in NYC. He has seen their son and gloats that he is gorgeous and he needs his full-time father! He tells Susan that in case she didn’t recognise it, this is a proposal and he wants her to be his wife. She asks what about Monica? He tells her that she knows everything as Monica hired a PI and had him followed.

A pensive Monica watches as others rave about their families, and she seems sad that hers is falling apart. Susan isn’t ready to make any long range plans with Alan as he promises her that he is sure of his decision. He tells her that it would kill him to love her as much as he does and not be able to make her his wife. She asks him again what about Alan Jr? He knows what he has to do so he doesn’t lose his son.
