- Xander is angry when Buffy and Willow find the spell to restore Angel's soul. Could be jealousy, but I think it's him feeling betrayed by Buffy. After all that's happened she still wants Angel back, and he just can't understand it.
- Even though he was angry at her earlier, Xander still worries and tells Buffy to be careful when she goes to fight Angel.

- When Buffy sees Xander in the hospital, she hugs him, and then when Xander sees the police, he hugs her again. She jokes, "That was equal parts protecting me, and copping a feel, right?"
- Willow tells Xander to tell Buffy that she's going to try the soul restoration spell. He doesn't tell Buffy about it though, only says, "Kick his ass." It seems he's moved past the jealousy thing and only wants Buffy to be safe. He knew that if she put off killing him, she'd get herself killed.

- Xander is the first of her friends that Buffy sees when she returns to Sunnydale. At first Xander seems a little angry when he sees her, but then he softens and murmurs, "Jeez, Buff..." He missed her, and he may still have feelings for her.
- At Buffy's Welcome Home party, the fight that goes on is mostly between Xander and Buffy. While Xander shouts out the pent up anger he'd been holding in for a whole summer, it's obvious that he only missed her and is frustrated.
- When the zombies crash in through the window, Buffy shouts, "Xander, kitchen!" and despite their earlier argument, he says, "I've got your back." After the fight is over, it seems they've reconciled.

- Xander sees Buffy and Angel kissing, and the next day they all confront her about it. Again, Buffy and Xander argue back and forth on it, and Buffy accuses Xander of being jealous of Angel. But I don't think it's jealousy. I think Xander feels betrayed again and will never understand why Buffy keeps running back to Angel.
- At the end of the episode, Xander admits that he might have gone overboard (bringing up Ms. Calendar's death, etc.) and tells Buffy that he trusts her.

- After a long time of ragging on Angel, Xander helps Buffy with her Angel problems. He helps her research and then they go to Willie's bar to find out more information. Buffy feels that there's no hope and Xander comforts her, saying, "We'll catch the bad guys. Sooner or later," and squeezing her shoulder.

- Faith asks Buffy if she's ever slept with Xander. She says no, of course, and she also says, "I love Xander, I just don't love Xander." She does love him as a friend. Her opinion's changed from the one she had in Some Assembly Required, when she tells Angel that she doesn't love Xander. You'll notice that in the time between that episode and this one, she and Xander have gone through so much together that they're much closer friends now, someone Buffy trusts and loves.

- Buffy finds out that Xander slept with Faith, and the expression on her face is definitely not gladness. It is hard to read though. She doesn't seem jealous, but she does look a little sorry. She cares deeply for Xander, and knows that he must be hurt for being with someone who he didn't love and didn't love him. There also may be some mourning there for Xander's innocence. Like Buffy, he lost his virginity to someone who went psychotic afterwards. Of course, Xander wasn't the cause of Faith's craziness, but Buffy can sympathize.

- When Buffy goes off to fight Faith, Xander confronts her and tells her he doesn't want to lose her. Buffy says, "I won't get hurt," and he replies, "That's not what I mean." What does he mean? Well, I think he may still be reeling from all that's happened between him and Faith. When he slept with Faith, he may have cared for her a little bit, even if she didn't care for him. He still loves Buffy, and knows that if she goes out there and kills Faith, she'll become a bit like Faith, someone who's killed a human. He doesn't want to lose the person he knows as Buffy, and risk getting his feelings hurt because he still loves Buffy. Just like he may have had the tiniest bit of feeling for Faith.

- First, Buffy mentions to Willow that she misses Xander. I guess that's a given, considering they're friends. But then, when she does see him, she's way happy: hugs him eagerly, hangs on his every word. Reminds me a bit of Xander's eagerness when Buffy returned in When She Was Bad.
- Buffy's feeling down because a vampire beat her, and Xander, always there for her, comforts her. He tells her that she's his hero, which is I'm sure just what she needed to hear. After everything, Xander will always need Buffy, and vice-verse.
- After Xander comforts her, she thanks him. I feel this is important to point out because I don't think Buffy thanks him enough. He really does a lot for her, and it's nice when she takes notice.

- Buffy is still very upset about Parker. She goes to the bar where Xander is working to see him and he immediately comforts her. He really has to work, but he does take some time to try and console her. Even if it doesn't totally get through to her, it's a sweet gesture. Buffy tells him everything she's feeling.
- Buffy is animalistically attracted to Xander while she is "Cave-Buffy." The way she sniffs him ("Boy smell nice.") and is all over him is kind of like how Xander is in The Pack. It just shows that even if they don't show any feelings for each other, Buffy and Xander definitely have an attraction.

- Xander comes to the party to find Buffy. She's with Riley, but Xander tells in her code that there's trouble. They leave the party holding hands. First of all, it's adorable. Did they really need to be holding hands? No, they could have just left the party. But they're close enough, so something like that just happens without thinking, probably. Besides, after they leave, Riley is a pretty jealous that Buffy just left with some guy. And he wouldn't feel that way unless he sensed some vibes that should cause him to feel jealous.
- Buffy's annoyed because she was interrupted at the party with Riley. Xander acts with jealousy; he calls Riley a "tutonic boy toy." It's obvious that he's upset that Buffy's moved on to Riley. He's jealous!
