Chapter 12

Luke looks across the water at Wyndemere.  He was determined to find out what Stefan was planning for his family this time.  ‘I should have gotten rid Cassadine when I had the chance,' Luke thought.  He definitely let things get out of hand.  Now he had to make sure that if anything happened to Stefan, he was nowhere around.  He tried to think of what reasons kept him from not putting a bullet in his head when he first saw him.  Was it Laura?  Was it that she wouldn't agree with it?  He didn't know.  Maybe it was just because he never really out and out planned on killing anyone, except for Frank Smith.  He wasn't a murderer despite what people thought.  That didn't mean he wouldn't kill to protect his family.

As Luke was preparing to get into his boat to sneak on Spoon Island, someone came up from behind him.  He looked over his shoulder to see Sean.

Luke: What are you doing?  Is your life so dull that you have nothing better to do than harrass me?

Sean: I'm trying to make sure you don't get in over your head.

Luke: If I need you to help, I'll ask.  This is something I have to do on my own.

Sean: Trespassing?

Luke: If that's what you want to call it.

Sean: I read the report on what happened last December.  You are not supposed to be on any Cassadine property without having the case against you reopened.

Luke: Do you really think I'm scared of a little Cassadine?

Sean: No. Of course not.  Luke Spencer isn't scared of anything.

Luke: Sean, why don't you do something useful like harrass the criminals of Port Chuckles and leave me alone.

Sean: Are you this stubborn that you won't admit that you are heading for danger?  I don't want to have to tell your wife why I had to arrest you.

Luke ignores Sean and heads back into the boat.  Sean grabs Luke and pulls him out.

Sean: You try that one more time and the next place you'll end up is in a jail cell.

"I'm back.  And I'm not leaving this time."

Stefan: Are you prepared for me to tell your husband the truth?

Laura: Do you think I'm going to let you hold this over my head forever?  This is going to end, Stefan.  I'm not running away from my family again.  My children need me... all of them.

Stefan: I doubt Nikolas wants anything to do with the mother who has abandoned him over and over again.

Laura: Which is why I'm not going to abandon him now.  If you are so determined to ruin my life with this secret, Nikolas will need me now more than ever.

Stefan: He never needed you and never will.  If he is in trouble, I will be there like always.  I'm the one who has picked up the pieces of his shattered heart that you constantly have broken.

Laura: Are you so sure he will come to you after he finds out you have lied to him longer?  You made him believe that his father was dead.  And you made him believe that his mother left him to be with a man who killed his father.

Stefan: I did what I had to do.

Laura: As did I.  I just want to leave you with one thought.  Who will you hurt more by letting this secret come out?  Nikolas or me?  I'm prepared for it, but Nikolas isn't.  Think about that before your stupid obsession clouds your judgement.

Laura leaves Wyndemere and Stefan thinks about everything Laura has said.  He was not going to let her fool him.  He knew Nikolas would understand why he kept this secret.  It was for his own well being.   Luke, on the other hand, would never understand why Laura kept it.   If there was one thing he was going to do, he was going to destroy Laura's life.

Luke just stared at Sean.  Why did Port Charles have to have a competent police commissioner now?  And Sean wasn't the type to let things go either.  He would ignore Sean and do what he planned on doing if it wasn't for his family.  He knew that his family would need him to be around for when Stefan's current plan went into action.   He had to back off now so he would be around later.

Luke: Fine.  I won't go there, but this is a public place.  I have every right to be here.

Sean: As long as you stay here.

Luke: I just told you I would.  Why don't you go harrass some other citizens.  They may get jealous of all the time you are spending with me.

Sean: Why are you obsessed with the Cassadines?

Luke: Because they plan on hurting the Spencers any way they can.   Is that reason enough for you?

Sean: You are so paranoid.

Luke: This isn't being paranoid.  This is being prepared.  The Cassadines' whole goal in life is to destroy everything that gets in their way.  They already harmed my family once, and there is no way I am going to let them do it again.

Sean: What were you going to do there?

Luke: Just warn Stefan to not go near anyone in my family, especially my wife.  I don't want him to even mention her name, let alone see her.

As Luke finished saying that he looked over to the launch that was headed towards him.  He thought that he would get to give his warning to Stefan after all.  But to his surprise it wasn't Stefan who came off the launch, it was Laura.

Luke: Laura?  What are you doing?

Laura: Luke, can we please go home?  There's something I need to tell you.
