Lucky put Lulu down for a nap. He wanted to be with his parents, but he knew that someone had to be here for his sister. Since his parents couldn't be, then the job was left for him. He was happy that his mother did decide to go to Greece because it would give his parents a chance to be together, and maybe work things out. But he also knew that his father would not be happy about it.
Lucky was on his way downstairs when he passed by his parents room. He stopped and looked inside, knowing he wasn't going to see anyone, but it was like the room was pulling him in. He looked over on the table and saw an envelope there. Lucky walked inside the room and picked up the envelope. Seeing that it was addressed to his mother, and in his father's handwriting, he decided to open it and read it. He needed to know exactly what kind of chances he had in having his parents both under the same roof again.
Angel,
I didn't expect this to be so hard to write. I wanted to be able to tell you this in person, but I also knew that if I didn't leave without you knowing, then you would insist on coming with me. And you know, Baby, I would really love it if we did this together, like the old days. Adventure has always seemed to bring us together, whether it was running from Frank Smith or chasing Lucky across the country. Our problems always seemed to mend during a crisis, and we do have problems that do need mending. But, it would be selfish of me to take you with me, and under the circumstances, I can't afford to be selfish. Just trust me. Please, trust me this time, if you ever trusted me before.
One more thing, before you want to tear this letter up and me along with it. Once I get your son back home, and you've had time to relax after all the stress you've been through lately, I promise you that we will sit down and talk. We'll move passed these problems in some way, and we'll make this marraige work again. I'll listen this time, and I won't let anger guide my thinking. We've already lost too many precious moments due to anger, and it's time we realized that we're only hurting ourselves more in the process. I promise you that what you asked of me last night, to be your husband in every sense of the word, will come true again. Keep your faith in me, and I'll come home to prove that it wasn't misplaced.
Love ya, Angel,
Luke (your knight in shining armor)
Lucky closed the letter and placed it back in the envelop. He got more than he expected from the letter. His father was intending to come back home to where he belonged. And they still loved each other as much as they always have. Everything would work out despite how bad it had gotten. "But what if Mom leaving without Dad knowing destroys this?" Lucky asked himself. In the letter, his father asked his mother to trust him just this one time. What if his father viewed this as another betrayal?
Lucky quickly went through the drawers knowing that his father's cell phone number was around somewhere. He knew his mother always kept it hidden because his father was so paranoid someone would get the number who should have it. That number was only to be used in an extreme emergency, and Lucky had decided that this was definitely an emergency. His parents' marriage might depend on it.
Luke and Sonny were on a small, private jet on their way to Italy to switch to a commercial flight to Greece. Luke had insisted that the Cassadines probably were keeping track of any private planes landing in Greece, and even the manifests of the arrivals into Greece on commercial flights too. So, their safest and quickest way was to take the private jet to a secure location, and then fly under their alternate identities into Greece, hoping they wouldn't be recognized.
Luke lit up his cigar and looked out the window. Sonny grabbed two drinks, passed one to Luke, and took a seat across from him. "What are you thinking, pal?" Sonny asked.
"My wife probably read the letter by now. I wonder what her kind of reaction she had to it is all."
"Do you think she's going to be ticked off at you for leaving like that?"
"It wouldn't be the first time," Luke said, remembering his Puerto Rican adventure. "Actually, it's not the leaving part that I'm wondering about. I told her I want to work things out with her. I just wonder if she's going to take me at my word, or is she going to be scared that I'll hurt her again. Big stuff, man. Big stuff we're dealing with."
"I think she'll trust you, Luke. Look how she has been leaning on you since Nikolas has been gone. I mean, with the way you hate the kid, she didn't have to turn to you. Yet, she did, pal. She turned to you when she needed you. That should tell you that she trusts you completely. She's trusting you with her son's life. That's more precious than anything else she will ever have."
"I know that. Why didn't I see that before? Why did I let my hatred for the kid outweigh my love for Laura. And I did, man. I really did do that at times."
"Luke, I wouldn't have reacted as good as you have through all of this. If the woman I loved kept that huge a secret from me... well, now I know why I'm not the one who's married, and you are," Sonny said.
Luke looked down at his wedding ring. "It's not that hard being married, Sonny. Actually it's a lot easier than I ever thought it would be. Laura's an easy woman to love. She's impossible not to love, actually. No, Sonny, marriage is easy. It's staying under the same roof that seems to be the difficult part."
Luke and Sonny sat in silence for a while, when Luke's cell phone started ringing. Luke looked over at Sonny, saying, "I guess my wife has just found the letter because she's the only one with the number." Luke picked up the phone and answered.
"Dad? I need to tell you something."
"Lucky? What's wrong? What's happened to your mother?" Luke asked, scared that Helena's men might have already hit his house.
"Nothing, I hope."
"What do you mean hope? Lucky, where's your mother at? I want to speak to her."
"Well, Dad, that's why I'm calling. You see, Mom is gone," Lucky said quietly.
"WHAT!?!" Luke yelled at the top of his lungs.
"If you calm down, I'll tell you what I know," Lucky said, hoping his dad would see his mom's point of view.
"I'm as calm as you're going to get me right now, Lucky. When did your mother leave, and where did she go?" Luke asked, the anger evident in his quiet voice.
"When we all assumed she was taking a shower, she snuck out the house. She left grandma a note saying that she needed to go and that's it. You know she's going to Greece, and she left before you."
"And she most likely used her fake ID because she's smart enough to know not to get caught. Thanks, Cowboy, you done good. I'll handle it from here," Luke said, hanging up the phone before Lucky had a chance to say anything more.
"So, Laura is coming with us," Sonny said.
"Actually, she thinks she beating us to Greece, but wait until she gets off that plane and sees her welcoming committee," Luke said, as he furiously dialed some numbers, finding out the exact flights that Laura was taking.
Sean returned to the Quartermaines's greeted by an angry Edward. "Now, Donnelly, I didn't question you why you needed my jet, but I assumed you were going to be on it too when you asked to borrow it."
"What do you mean, Edward?" Sean asked.
"The jet is gone with Alexis Davis on it."
"What? Get the pilot to fly back!"
"I would have if I could, but I guess he likes pretty women!" Edward yelled.
"Okay, I'll get to jet back myself, Edward. Don't worry about it," Sean said, trying to push his way passed Edward. Edward stopped him and said, "If you don't get that plane back, your new friend is going to be up on theft charges, Commissioner."
Several hours later...
Alexis arrives at Greece and gets off the plane. She goes through customs feeling like someone was following her, but continued on her way anyway. She left the airport, and hopped into a cab, heading for the nearest hotel to the airport. After about a 5 minute drive, she sees a hotel through the window, but the cab continues to drive passed it. "I asked for the closest hotel, and we've just passed it, sir." Alexis told the driver.
"Oh, don't worry. We have somewhere nicer for you to stay," the driver said, locking the doors and speeding away.
Helena watches Nikolas on the monitor. She made sure to monitor his every movement, even without him knowing. "My grandson, you will be the bate for all that I will get revenge on." Helena smiled, as she watched, when the phone rang. "Yes?"
"Mrs. Cassadine, I am here to report that Ms. Davis will be delivered to you shortly."
"Thank you. And what about the others? Did anyone else follow her?"
"None that we've noticed so far. It seems that Ms. Davis was traveling alone, and we've checked all incoming flights so far, and no one has arrived under the descriptions you have given us."
"I know that Luke Spencer will follow, so keep your eye on everyone arriving into Greece. And he will use a fake name, so there is no need to check the manifests," Helena said.
"Are you sure that Mr. Spencer will come? He hates Master Nikolas."
"But he adores his wife. He is a loyal man... too loyal for his own good. He'll come, but I don't want you to take him. I want you to leave a message at whereever he decides to stay the night. Tell him who I have and that I want to see him, privately, and that I'll be in touch."
"Yes, Mrs. Cassadine. Anything else?"
"Yes, if his wife is with him, kill her."
