Luke sat on the couch with Laura still sleeping in his arms. He gently
kissed and stroked her head as she slept. He hadn't gotten much sleep last
night, not with all the memories of Laura going through his mind. As he
looked at her a sleep in his arms he couldn't help but think Why hadn't
he made love to her last night. God knows he wanted to. So Why did he turn
her down? He knew the answer even without asking it. Deep down he knew
that if they had of made love last night Laura would of only been more
confused about her feelings. He didn't want that to happen because it would
kill him
if she was in his bed one night then went back to Stefan. Laura began
to wake up.
Laura sleepily said, "Luke?"
Luke kissed her head. "I'm here angel."
Laura smiled, she hadn't realized how much she missed being called those little pet names he called her. "I thought that I was dreaming."
Luke chuckles. "No Baby this is not a dream."
Laura turned so that she was facing Luke, he automatically reached out and took her hands. Laura laughs. "Well that's good. Guess that means I don't have to rush out to Ferncliff anytime soon." They both laugh. Laura looks at Luke and notices that he has something on his mind. "What are you thinking about?"
Luke smiles and strokes her cheek, he stares at her for about 30 seconds before he answers. "I was just thinking how beautiful you were. I guess I forgot just how much."
Laura blushed, they stared at each other for a couple of minutes before Laura spoke. "Luke about last night..."
Luke puts his finger up to her mouth. "Shh!! Don't worry about it." Luke smiled and leaned in and they started to kiss. Before it could become anything more there was a knock on the door.
Leslie just got in from Amy's with Lu-Lu when Stefan showed up. Leslie sent Lu-Lu upstairs to play when she saw who it was. "Stefan!"
Stefan walks right in. "Is Laura home?"
Leslie slams the door shut and goes over to him. "Stefan why don't you come in."
Stefan: "Leslie I asked if Laura was here. So if you would be so kind as to tell her that I am here."
Leslie looks at him with a disgusted look on her face. "Laura isn't here. Lu-Lu and I went to Amy's for the night and we just got back and there is no sign of her."
Stefan: "You left Laura by herself at a time like this?"
Leslie: "Mr. Cassadine if it is any of your business, which it is NOT,
my daughter needed some time to be alone so I took Lu-Lu to Amy's for the
night."
Stefan: "Did she go see him?"
Leslie laughs. "If you mean her by him her HUSBAND then yes, I belive she did."
Stefan: "You let her go see that MAN!! How dare you authorize that. What good is he to her. She is in no condition to be dealing with that man."
Leslie starts to lose it, she slams her fist on the table. "Laura is a GROWN woman. I do NOT AUTHORIZE her to do anything. Laura makes her own decisions and if she wanted to go see Luke than so be it. He is the only one who can help her deal with the lose of THEIR SON. He knows exactly what she is feeling because he feels the same."
Stefan starts to walk towards the door. "The only thing that man can do is control. For the last 17 years he has controlled every aspect of her life."
Before Leslie has a chance to reply Stefan is out the door. Leslie sighs and goes over to the phone to call Laura. She thought she better warn her, she didn't think that he would have the gull to show up at Luke's but just in case. Luke would go ballistic.
Luke and Laura reluctantly pull apart. Luke kisses her on the forehead as he goes to get the door. He smiles when he sees Bobbie standing there. "Hey Baby Sister. What are you doing here?"
They hug as Bobbie says, "I wanted to stop by to see how you were doing."
They pull apart as Luke kisses her cheek."I'm fine Barbara. Really."
Luke steps back and Bobbie walks in to see Laura sitting on the couch. Automatic anger comes over Bobbie. She couldn't believe this woman. How dare she come here after everything she has put Luke through?
Bobbie sarcastically: "I'll bet your fine. Laura, what's the matter? Stefan not available last night or did you just get tired of him?"
Luke slams the door and yells, "BARBARA JEAN!"
Laura gets up to get her coat. She wasn't going to stay and listen to this woman. She wasn't in the mood. "As always Bobbie it's a pleasure to see you. I would really love to stay and continue this lovely chat but I must be going."
Luke rushes over to Laura, who has her head down to try and stop from crying. "We are not done talking. Please Don't go. Please."
Luke reaches over and lifts her chin up so she is looking him in the eyes, her eyes were full of tears. "I don't think so Luke. I will talk to you later."
He wanted to tear Bobbie to shreds when he saw the tears in Laura's
eyes. He wanted so desperately to put his arms around her and take all
the pain away and tell her that everything was going to be OK, but he knew
Bobbie would probably start in on her again. He leaned in and gently kissed
her lips, as Laura started to cry more. Laura calmed down after a couple
of minutes and
started towards the door when Bobbie chuckled and said, "What Laura
are you finished with Luke so now your going to hop on over to Stefan and
make comparisons?"
Laura stooped dead in her tracks. Luke gave Bobbie a look that would kill, if looks could kill. Laura turned and looked Bobbie right in the eye. "My personal life is NONE of your business, but since your so interested, Stefan and I have NOT slept together since I left the island 15 years ago."
Laura turns to leave with Bobbie and Luke staring at her with their mouths wide open. The phone rings. Luke picks it up and says, "Laura it's your mother."
Laura, who is at the door by this time whips around with a look of pure panic written on her face as she walks over to the phone. Luke notices the look and says, "Lu-Lu is fine. Everything is OK."
Laura gives a sigh of relief as she answers the phone. "Mom?"
Leslie: "Baby I'm sorry to interrupt..."
Laura: "That's alright what is it?"
Leslie: "I just wanted to warn you that Stefan was just here and he figured out that you went to Luke's last night. He wasn't pretty happy about it."
Laura: "OK Thanks Mom. I don't think he will show here."
Laura hangs up the phone, stares at the phone for a couple of minutes before she turns and looks at Luke. "Stefan came by the house and she wanted to warn me just in case he came here." Luke starts to get angry and Laura notices. "Please Luke Don't worry. I don't think he will come here. Please"
Luke gives a little smile, Laura could always calm him down: "OK OK Can I talk to you outside?"
Laura looks at him a little timid, she didn't know what he wanted to
talk about. She was hoping that they wouldn't get in a fight they had gotten
along so well last night. "Sure," she replied. They walk outside and closed
the door so that Bobbie can not hear them. Luke stares at Laura for a couple
of
minutes, unsure on how to approach the subject. He decides that it
would be best to just come out and say it. "Baby, why didn't you tell me
that you and Count Vlad haven't slept together?"
Laura looks at him alittle taken aback. "Um.. I don't know Luke. Maybe because you never asked me. You just assumed that I had. Why, does it change things now?"
Luke walks closer to her. "Your damn right it changes things. Why is it you haven't slept with Cassadine but your ready to sleep with me?"
Laura: "I don't know why I haven't slept with Stefan. Maybe it's because I wasn't ready."
Luke takes her hands. "But yet you were ready to sleep with me last night. Doesn't that tell you something, Laura? Like maybe you have wanted me all along. Why else would you keep putting off sleeping with Steffin if you were really in love with him? As far as last night goes, I would of made love to you in a heart beat."
Laura: "But you said last night that you didn't want to confuse me."
Luke: "Right, Angel, I thought that you were in love with Steffin and so I figured if I made love to you last night it wouldn't of made a difference. I wasn't going to make you fall in love with me. But now that I know that you and Steffin haven't slept together then I know that your feelings for him aren't as strong as I had thought."
Laura: "Luke I don't know what I think anymore. All I know is that this morning, I felt like I was home. I felt like I was where I belonged and I haven't felt that way in a long time."
Luke smiled and kissed her on the lips. As he pulled away, he whispered, "My God, I Love You. Why didn't I make love to you when I had the chance?"
With that he was back inside the apartment leaving Laura there smiling. Maybe he was right maybe she didn't "love" Stefan like she thought. Stefan was there for her when she needed him she was grateful to him for that. But was she "in love" with him? All she knew right know at this moment was that there was only one man who she wanted in her bed and that was Luke. But was that just because of last night or did she still love him?
Luke forgot that Bobbie was still there. "Oh Barbara. You're still here."
Bobbie: "Did she go home?"
Luke: "Barbara Jean, I'm in no mood so just get out."
Bobbie gets mad and walks out slamming the door. Luke just stands in the middle of the room in shock. He couldn't belive that Laura hadn't slept with Steffin. He was sure that they had. Now that he knew the truth Steffin better be ready. He was going to get Laura back No Matter What.
