Dedicated to the Animal Planet series that aired from
March 31 - December 31, 2000
Beginning on March 31, 2000 Animal
Planet aired thirteen episodes of a dramatic television series based
on Jack London's immortal The Call of the Wild. However, the
series attempted to capture the spirit of London's work rather than just
relate the story of the novel. Elements of other London stories,
such as
White Fang and "To Build a Fire" were incorporated into
the story. Besides Buck and the legendary John Thornton, other characters
such as Miles Challenger, Emma Berry and the Swede were included in the
series to bring new life and a spirit of adventure to the work. Each
episode contained not only adventure but also elements of comedy, tragedy
and romance making the series a wonderful choice for family entertainment.
Sadly, there will be no second season of this program; due to an apparent
conflict between the producer and distributor, the series has been cancelled.
