FIRST SCENES:
Evans' Beth was wheeled into the hospital on a gurney after falling down a flight of stairs. Chamberlin's Beth sat in front of a campfire in 1989, as an off-screen voice (Neil Everest) told her to come to bed.  In 1997, Lillian called Beth to tell her daughter that Phillip had started a relationship with Harley.

LAST SCENES:
Evans' Beth disappeared when she was kidnapped by Professor Blackburn in 1986. Chamberlin's Beth (in 1991) at a farewell party for her & Phillip.

FAMILY:
Beth was raised by her mother, Lillian, and step-father, Bradley Raines. Her father died when she was an infant.

Beth grew up sheltered from the outside world. Her stepfather was physically and emotionally abusive, and her mother denied that anything was wrong in their dysfunctional family. Beth used art (painting & drawing) as a means of self-expression. When Bradley caught her drawing a portrait of her natural father, he became so enraged that he threw her down a flight of stairs. During her stay in the hospital, she roomed with Mindy and met orderlies, Rick and Phillip.

In 1985, Beth's Aunt Calla (Lillian's sister) and cousin Jessie moved to town.

Beth has two children by Phillip--Lizzie (born in 1990) and James (born in 2000).

JACKSON FREEMONT:
Beth had a flirtation with her mentor. He caused problems in her relationship with Lujack by playing on Lujack's jealousy. He even went so far as to let Lujack assume he and Beth had slept together. After Lujack's death, Jackson helped her move on. He had hopes of developing a relationship with her, but in the end, she went back to Phillip.

NEIL EVEREST:
Beth returned to Springfield in 1989 with Neil. He was a former Spaulding employee, who found Beth sometime after she disappeared in 1986. The two of them returned to Springfield in 1989. Beth was suffering from amnesia and aphasia (an inablility to speak), but she felt connected to the town. Neil got another job at Spaulding as an architect. He soon learned of Beth's connections in town, but tried to keep the truth from her so he wouldn't lose her. When Beth was reunited with her family and got her memory back, she struggled with her feelings for Neil and her first love, Phillip.

In the end, she chose Phillip, which made Neil very angry. He then learned that Beth was pregnant with his child, but that she intended to raise it with Phillip. The final straw came when it was revealed the child wasn't his afterall--Phillip was the father.

Neil conspired with Spaulding exec, Gary Swanson, to set up Phillip for the collapse of the new Spaulding project, Towers. But Neil got caught in his own trap and died in the explosion. Phillip was accused of Neil's murder, but after a trial and going on the run, he was cleared of the charges. It was later revealed that Gary had set Phillip up for Neil’s death under Alan’s orders.

MEDICAL HISTORY:
Beth suffered from many bumps and bruises growing up with her abusive stepfather. Upon her exam during her hospital stay in 1983, Dr. Justin Marler confronted her about many noticeable injuries that had gone untreated. In October 1984, she was blinded in an explosion at Lujack's new club.

Upon her return to Springfield in 1989, she suffered from aphasia and amnesia, the apparent result of her abduction in 1986. In 2001, she suffered injuries from a fall from a tower in San Cristobel. Then she was presumed dead after a flash flood in Mexico, where she was seeking a divorce from Edmund Winslow. She returned to Springfield as Beth's lookalike, Lorelei, but the truth finally surfaced that she was Beth, suffering from a split personality after the trauma of her near-death experience. She is currently reunited with her family. Miraculously, she didn't seem to need medical attention once she got home.

LEGAL HISTORY:
Beth charged her stepfather, Bradley, with rape, and testified against him in court. In 1985, she was arrested for breaking & entering the home of India & Phillip Spaulding. The charges were later dropped. In 1990, Beth was sentenced to community service for her role in faking Phillip's death to avoid his conviction for Neil Everest's murder.

OCCUPATIONS:
During college, Beth waited tables at the Country Club to help pay her expenses. In New York with Phillip, she sketched and joined Phillip in a mime act. Back in Springfield, she set up shop at Company drawing charicatures for patrons. She later put her artistic skills to work for Delilah Records when Lujack, was pursuing his music career. In 1986, she worked at a museum with Professor Blackburn. In 1990, she designed the Tower mural for Spaulding Enterprises. She also later became a Spaulding VP.
