Diary
27 July -- Lordy, it's been forever since I've updated this. I've been painfully busy at work, and letting everyone know just how hard I've been working <g> to get it together and update my site. Gee, it sucks. And yes, I am the only person in the world with problems.
Another temp left this week. Sigh. Lorain was -- I guess she still is, actually -- a lovely person. Friendly, funny, and the type who'll get on with her work without complaining, no matter how repetitive or boring the work is. Of course, it ain't like the rest of us do incredibly exciting stuff, but still, it's a nice attitude to work near.
Nicky's 13 1/2 months now. I can't believe it's gone so quickly! He's close to walking; he can stand up for a couple of seconds unassisted, and can walk 9-10 steps with his hands held, or holding onto a toy.
1 June -- Cathy, our temp of one week, left today. She's awfully nice and picked things up quickly. We had a big party, with speeches. She spoke about how much she'll miss us all, but it's time to move on. After all, she has her career to think of. Doesn't want to stagnate! We had a cake (I bought it, so naturally I got something I like -- banana, mmmmm) and gave her a farewell card made out of Post-It notes. Sandra (our team leader) spoke about how much we've come to know & love Cathy over the past week, and how much we'll miss her. Ahhh, office humour!
Nicky's been sick for a while. He got over the worst of it a few weeks ago, but he still has snuffles and coughs, poor little boy. And, man, am I glad I'm the one who gets to wipe his nose. Ewwwwww.
On the lighter side, he loves crawling around. And he now knows that there are things on top of the coffee table. Sometimes we'll be eating, or watching TV, and a little hand will come over the top in a snatch & grab mission! He's snared chips, remotes, books... he's getting damn fast at it, too.
I can't believe Voyager did Yogi's Space Race. How freakin' depressing.
24 April -- I've been back at work for two weeks and a little bit. All going well so far. Though I'm really, really sick of stairs.
1 April -- memo to self. McDonald's thickshakes are not good for the insides.
23 March -- I had fudge for breakfast and pretzels for lunch today.
19 March -- I have discovered the nicest pretzels ever. Tomato & Basil flavour, or Italian Herbs. Mmmmmm. And they're low in fat! Who'da guessed. That means I can eat five times as many, right? Right?
Nicky had his second icecream yesterday. He's had icecream, pretzels, pizza, and chocolate, and he's only nine months old. I'm not sure if I should be ashamed or proud. He loves icecream. I have to hold it for him at first, but once most of the top part is gone (and therefore it's not quite so likely to all fall on him if he tips it upside down), I give it to him and he goes to town. It gets everywhere.
The second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was on Foxtel recently. Wow. I used to love those movies!
18 March -- Hormones suck. Copyright sucks. PMS sucks big time. 'Nuff said.
13 March -- I just watched the first episode of Voyager's season 7. Man, what a disappointment. If the show could manage to be consistent within itself, it'd be a bloody miracle. It's so sad. I actually enjoyed this show for the first few seasons. I was interested in the characters. I actually cared if Janeway and Chakotay got together. But that went nowhere. Instead, we're stuck with Torres/Paris, a relationship which demeans 'em both -- they're either fighting, screwing, or worried about each other, and that's about it. If you wants Trek, and you wants good Trek, hie ye hither and check out Deep Space Nine.
