Lucky Numbers (2000)
Colin plays Jack, the Denny's
manager in the very first scenes of the movie. His appearance
is only a few minutes long. He plays opposite John Travolta, who
plays Russ Richards. After he trades lines with John, you can
watch him walking back and forth between tables, greeting people,
in the background while the scene continues on.
Russ:
Jack, how are you?
Jack: Good morning, Mr. Richards.
Russ: Did you get a haircut?
Jack: Oh, yes...
Russ: Yeah, it looks good. Hey, don't get too good-looking.
I'll be out of a job.
Jack: (laughs) Oh, how about this winter weather,
eh?
Russ: Oh, please.
Jack: The Farmers' Almanac sure didn't get it right this
year. 'Caterpiller in June, cold winter soon'...that's
what they said.
Russ: Well, amateurs, Jack. Hillbilly folklore. That's
all it is.
Jack: You should write your own almanac, Mr. Richards...something
people could believe in.
Russ: Maybe one day I will, Jack. Maybe one day I will.
Jack: Enjoy your breakfast!
Russ: All right.
My thoughts: The best line
in the whole scene was Colin saying "Something
people could believe in." His small part came across as
the owner of a very busy Denny's, and his part was actually part
comedic, part seriousness. Colin looked great in the Denny's uniform,
and looks right at home in front of a camera.
